James Henry Vaughn Sr.
James Henry Vaughn Sr., 55, of Route 1, Flovilla, died Friday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Atlanta after an illness of several months.
A native of Columbus, Mr. Vaughn was the son of the late John Henry Vaughn and Mrs. Florence Cox Vaughn. He had a long and distinguished military career, having served in both the European and Pacific theatres in World War II as well as three tours of duty in Vietnam.
Mr. Vaughn was a mason, a member of the Muscogee Lodge 727 F&AM. He was employed at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Center until ill health forced his retirement. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret (Jean) Bailey Vaughn of Flovilla; daughters Mrs.Sandra Lynn Lamer of Atlanta, Mrs. Delbra Jean Martin of Columbus, and Mrs. Connie Darline White of Albany; son, James H. Vaughn Jr. of Columbus; brother, Vernon Vaughn of Conyers; sister, Mrs. Edna Jaquess of Hampton.
