Forsyth Man Killed In Try To Dodge Deer
A 20-year-old Forsyth man was killed Saturday when the car he was driving ran off a county road near High Falls and struck a tree, according to the Monroe Sheriff's office. The victim, Jimmy Lee Vaughn, tried to avoid a deer that ran onto the road, causing him to lose control of the car and swerve into the tree.
Mr. Vaughn, a native of Butts County, had lived in Forsyth for six years where he was employed by the City of Forsyth with the electrical department.
Funeral services were held at three o'clock Monday afternoon in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Butts County with the Rev. T. J. Thaxton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Andrew A. Dillon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Ruth Vaughn of Forsyth; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Vaughn of Forsyth; four sisters, Mrs. W. L. Stevens of Zebulon, Mrs. G. C. Faulkner Jr., Mrs. Bernard Abernathy and Mrs. Dave Neely, all of Forsyth; seven brothers, Ben Vaughn of Jackson, James Vaughn of Onida, Tenn., Bobby Vaughn and Alvin Vaughn, both of Long Beach, Calif., Gene Vaughn of Franklin, Larry and Tommy Vaughn, both of Forsyth.
