Miss Sarah Annis Vaughn
Miss Annis Vaughn Summoned By Death
The body of Miss Sarah Annis Vaughn was found at her home near Old Bethel church Friday afternoon at 5 o'clock, death probably having occurred the preceding night. The body was found by members of the family residing nearby. She was last seen Thursday afternoon and apparently in good health at that time. The body was lying across the bed when discovered. The verdict of a coroner's inquest was that death resulted from natural causes.
Miss Vaughn, who was 50 years of age, was a prominent and beloved woman of the county. She was a daughter of the late Mr. H. M. Vaughn and Nancy Ann (King) Vaughn, well known residents of the county. She was a member of Cedar Rock church and was widely beloved. She made her home alone at the Vaughn homestead near old Bethel church.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at Old Bethel Church, with Elder A. C. Elliott officiating. Many friends were present for a last tribute and the floral offerings showed the esteem in which she was held. Interment was in the family lot in the churchyard.
Miss Vaughn is survived by two sisters, Mrs. L. N. Maddox and Mrs. A. G. Brown of Jackson; seven brothers, Messrs. Homer M. Vaughn, T. W., J. G., and B. B. Vaughn, of Jackson; T. M. Vaughn, of Oslerfield, Ga., and Dewitt Vaughn, of Oaktown, Ind.
