Rites Saturday For Mrs. Vickers
Mrs. Jenny Wise Vickers, 83, one of the county's oldest residents, died at her home at Cork Friday after an illness of several months. More than a year ago she suffered a broken leg in a fall and more recently suffered a stroke which produced death.
Widow of the late W. R. Vickers Sr., she was born October 18, 1870 and was connected with pioneer Butts county families. Her father was Joe Wise. She was a member of Sandy Creek Primitive Baptist Church and was widely beloved in the community.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 p. m. at Sandy Creek Church with Elder Elzie Speir officiating. The grandsons were pallbearers. Burial was in the church cemetery with Peacock & Ball Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are; four sons, Vickers, Marvin Vickers, W. R. Vickers and W. Vickers; three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Norsworthy, Mrs. E. M. Smith, of Butts county, and Mrs. Carl Kress of Belmont, N. C.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
