William M. Vickers Died on Saturday
Funeral services for William Morton Vickers, 65, who died Saturday afternoon in the Cork community, were held Monday at 2:30 p. m. at Sandy Creek Church. The Rev. Ralph Godwin officiated and burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Peacock & Ball Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Robert Smith, Lewis Cochran, Carl Vickers, Howard Norsworthy, Willie Norsworthy, Lindsey Vickers.
The body of Mr. Vickers, who resided alone, was found in his home.
A coroner's inquest was held and the jury decided he came to his death from natural causes.
Born in Butts county December 13, 1889, Mr. Vickers was a veteran of World War I. He was a son of Billy Vickers and Mrs. Jennie Wise Vickers, established families of the Cork community. For many years he resided with his sister, Mrs. Ernest Smith but recently had lived alone. He had been in feeble health for sometime.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. W. C. Norsworthy of Jackson; Mrs. Ernest Smith of Flovilla, and Mrs. Carl Kress of Belmont, N. C.; three brothers, Marvin, Walker and W. R. Vickers of Flovilla; several nieces and nephews.
