Mrs. Helmet Vogel Dies in Memphis
Jackson friends of Mrs. Helmet Vogel of Memphis, the former Miss Elizabeth Lewis of Jackson and Macon were distressed to learn of her death Saturday night in Memphis. She suffered a cerebral hemorrhage early Saturday morning and a second Saturday afternoon, living only a few hours after the second one. Previous to her sudden illness, she was in her usual good health
Mrs. Vogel, 44, was the younger daughter of Rev, J. S. Lewis and Mrs. Kate McCord Lewis, both deceased. She spent part of her girlhood in Jackson, moving later to Macon. She was a graduate of Wesleyan where she had a brilliant record. For a while she taught in Macon, and a the time of her death she was teaching Science in the Memphis public schools. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Funeral services and interment were in Memphis Monday afternoon.
Surviving Mrs. Vogel are her husband; one sister, Mrs. Mary Mussett of Memphis; one brother Lieut. Cmdr. Charles M. Lewis, U. S. Navy, retired, of Jackson; one aunt, Miss Annie Lou McCord of Jackson.
