George Yancey Was Buried In Covington
Mr. George A. Yancey, 83, of Worthville, died Tuesday morning from a self-inflicted bullet wound to the head shortly after arrival at Macon Hospital. Ill health and despondency were attributed as the causes of his act.
A native of Butts County, Mr. Yancey was the son of Mr. Adrahy Yancey and Mrs. Lou Lynch Yancey. A retired farmer, Mr. Yancey lived in Newton County for a long number of years before moving to the Worthville Community in Butts County about two years ago.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock from the chapel of the J. C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home in Covington with the Rev. Jim Luke and Rev. Ben F. Stone officiating. Interment was in Lawnwood Cemetery.
Mr. Yancey is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Harris Yancey; three sons, Paul Yancey and Charles Yancey of Jackson; Lester Yancey of Mansfield; three daughters, Mrs. John N. Cunard, Mrs. Robert Cunard, and Mrs. Exie Bohannon, all of Mansfield; two brothers, Emmett Yancey of Covington and Charles Yancey of Eastman; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
