John Gary Yawn
John Gary Yawn, 36, of 132 Thomas St., Griffin, died March 10 at his residence after a period of declining health.
The funeral was held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Southside Baptist Church in Griffin with the Rev. Danny Parris and the Rev. Tommy Reaves officiating. Burial was in the Westwood Gardens in Griffin.
Mr. Yawn, a native of Butts County, had lived in Griffin for the past 16 years. He was an employee of Southern Bell, a member of the Future Pioneers, and a former coach in the Dixie Youth Baseball League in Griffin.
Mr. Yawn was a graduate of Jackson High School and attended North Georgia College.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Smith Yawn; son, Chris Yawn; daughter, Tracy Yawn; parents, John and Maude Yawn of Jackson; sisters, Patsy Byars, Marcia Clark, Kay Baker, and Fay Freeman, all of Jackson; several nephews and nieces.
Westwood Funeral Home in Griffin was in charge of arrangements.
