Mother Of Mr. Yawn Died In Her Sleep
Mrs. Sallie Swearingen Yawn, 82, of Byromville, mother of Mr. John B. Yawn of Jackson, died in her sleep Sunday night. She had been in ill health for several months. Her body was discovered Monday morning.
She was born in Dooley County and had lived in Byromville for many years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, December 16th, at three o'clock at Pleasant Valley Methodist Church with burial in the Lilly family lot. Rev. Cawthon, pastor of the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, and Rev. Buchanan, pastor of the Vienna Methodist Church, officiated. Odom Funeral Horne of Unadilla was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Yawn is survived by her husband, Starling Yawn of Byromville; two brothers, R. O. Swearingen of Vienna, C. V. Swearingen of Atlanta ; five sons, Raymond H. Yawn of Macon, John B. Yawn of Jackson, J. H. Yawn of Forest Park, Erwin Yawn of Cordele, S. H. Yawn of Byromville; four daughters, Mrs. L. E. Kimbrough of Americus, Mrs. Henry Suggs of' Americus, Mrs. Eldna Dukes of Americus, Mrs. Roy Baggett of Locust Grove; 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Gary Yawn, L. Kimbrough, Charles Kimbrough, Gerald Kimbrough, Billy Dukes, Tommy Dukes, Mike Dukes, Lee Baggett, all grandsons.
