Nephew Mrs. Garr Drowns Scuba Diving
One of the two Georgia boys who drowned Sunday afternoon while scuba diving in the Ichetucknee River 17 miles south of Lake City, Florida, was a nephew of Mrs. J. L. Garr of Jackson. Victims were Bruce Yohe, 18, of East Point, and Mike Reynolds, 18, of Atlanta. Mike is the nephew of Mrs. Garr, his father being A. B. Reynolds, brother of Mrs. Gary.
Glen Bailey, Chief Deputy of the Columbia County sheriff's office, said the boys diving into the cool water of the Blue Hole, ran out of air in their tanks. They got back in what we call the third room of one of these caves and ran out of air."
Deputy Bailey said the bodies of the youths were discovered 70 feet down and 200 feet laterally from the point where they went into the water. The bodies were recovered by a diver from the Alachua County sheriff's office.
Mike, according to J. L. Garr, was to enter the University of Georgia this fall.
