Macedonia Rites Held Saturday for Hines W. Young
Funeral services for Hines Watson Young, 64, of Jenkinsburg, well known Butts county farmer and political leader who died Thursday morning at Veterans Hospital No. 48, Atlanta, were held Saturday afternoon at the Jenkinsburg Baptist Church with the Rev. J. D. Harrison, pastor, and the Rev. Don Welch, pastor of the Jenkinsburg Methodist Church, officiating with interment in the Macedonia Cemetery at Stark. Haisten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
In failing health for some time, Mr. Young had been seriously ill for the past three months, spending much of this time hospitalized. A native of Morgan county, Mr. Young was a son of Joseph Young and Mrs. Susie Daniel Young.
A well known veteran political leader whose opinions and support in politics were highly valued, Mr. Young had ventured into the political arena twice as a candidate. In his races for a post on the Butts County Commissioner Board, though never successful, Mr. Young always ran well and finished close to the three winners. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Young was a devoted member of the Jenkinsburg Baptist Church and a Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nannie Lou Clark Young; one daughter, Mrs. Hubert Ingram, Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, Marshall Young, Atlanta, and Harold Young of Jenkinsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Adair, Atlanta; Mrs. Vannah Crawford, Shelby, N. C.; Mrs. Blanche Gordon, Birmingham, Ala.; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were G. W. Brooks, R. A. Allen, Herman Apple, Fred Cook, Curtis Williamson, Hughie Hooten.
