A. J. Youngblood Called by Death
Andrew Jackson Youngblood, 56, textile worker and veteran of World War I, died at his home on Watkins street at 7:10 a.m. March 27. Death followed an illness of more than a year.
Mr. Youngblood who had been a resident of Butts county for 14 years was born in Madison county, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas Youngblood. He was a member of the Baptist church, a Mason, member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Funeral services were held a the First Baptist church Friday at 3 p.m. and Rev. Gaither Briggs, Rev. Ralph Shea and Rev. Ralph Goodwin officiated. The pallbearers were from St. Johns lodge of Masons and the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars furnished an honorary escort. A squad from Company A, 121st Infantry, Georgia National Guard, fired a farewell salute and the Masons had charge of the graveside services.
Burial was in the Jackson cemetery and Haisten Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his wife, the former Miss Mary Thomas; two daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Stodghill and Mrs. Joyce Lasher, both of Atlanta; a son, Andrew J, Youngblood Jr., Jackson; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Towers of Lithonia; Mrs. Will Postum, Greensboro, N. C., and Mrs. Ruby Akins of California; a brother, Luther T. Youngblood of Jackson and a half-brother, Johnny League of Tucker.
