Page 156: April Term 1858
(George W. Arnold petitions that he is a distributee in the right of his wife Sarah Arnold formerly Sarah Phillips of the estate of John Phillips late of said county deceased. That Joseph P. Phillips was appointed administrator and sold off and received into his hands all the estate. Petition believes Joseph P. Phillips is making way with said estate and applying same to his use exclusively and that his administration bond is insolvent and Joseph T. is in insolvent circumstances and estate is likely to be further wasted by the improper conduct of said administrator.)

(Court ordered that Joseph T. Phillips appear at the next court fourth Monday in May and show cause why his Letters of Administration should not be revoked or other better security given.)

Motion to show cause why Letters of Administration should not abate, in Calhoun County Court of Ordinary.
By agreement and consent of parties it is ordered that the above stated cause be continued until next term of this court.

Page 208: February Term 1859
(Windsor Follett, security of Joseph P. Phillips, said Phillips had mismanaged estate of John Phillips in such a manner that he would likely be compelled to pay a considerable amount of the bond and that there would also be damage to the distributees of estate. Joseph P. Phillips has disposed of the effects of the estate and applied them to his own use. Also said Phillips is now confined in the common jail of Dougherty County charged with the crime of arson and so incapable of managing said estate.)

Page 209: (Court ordered that Phillips show cause at the next Court term fourth Monday in March why Follett should not be discharged from his securityship and new security given or his administration revoked.

Page 235: October Term 1859
(Joseph P. Phillips, indicted for arson, escaped from Dougherty County jail and fled. Court ordered his administration revoked.)

Page 241: December Term 1859
(Clerk of the Superior Court appointed Administrator de-bonis-non of John Phillips estate.)
