Inventory of the
Estate of the minor children of Jesse Morgan deceased to wit: Alonzo-Thaddeus
and Mary S Morgan of the north half of lot of land no 9-4th District of
Carroll County Georgia containing 101 1/4 acres more or less $300.00
Georgia Fulton County Coming in person before me Joseph Willis Guardian
for the above children who being sworn says that the above is all the property
belonging to said minors that now come with his hands possession or knowledge.
Sworn to and subscribed before me January 27th 1870. Daniel (David?) Pittman,

Term 1869 Alonzo, Thaddeus and Mary S Morgan minor children of Jesse
Morgan deceased, each over the age of fourteen years having petitioned the
Court to appoint as their Guardian Joseph Willis and the Court being satisfied
with their choice. It is ordered that said persons and property of said
Minors upon his giving Bond and Security in the sum of Four Hundred Dollars
and taking the usual oath of office.

Although this was filed in Fulton County, the children were from the Haralson/Carroll

In appearing to this Court that Joseph Willis is guardian of Alonzo, Thadeus,
and Mary S Morgan, minors and that this estate is small consisting of one
hundred acres of land of the value of only about three hundres dollars bringing
little of no income. It is ordered that the said Joseph Willis guardian
as aforesaid be relieved from making annual returns. David Pittman Ordinairy

Section 563 February Term 1872 Fulton Court
of Ordinary February Term 1872 Joseph Willis Guardian of Alonzo, Thaddeus,
and Mary Morgan having applied for leave to sell the north half of land
lot no 9 in the 4th District of Carroll County being one hundred acres of
wild uncultivated land, for the benefit of the said children. It is ordered
that leave be granted said Guardian to sell said land for the purpose specified
at final? sale.
Additional Comments: Note: Although this was filed
in Fulton County, Alonzo, Thaddeus and Mary Morgan were from the Haralson/Carroll
County region.
Note: Not sure what the next to the last word is as

State of Georgia,
Fulton County Know all men by these present that we Joseph Willis Principal
and John T Huff Security are held and firmly bound unto the Ordinary of
said County and his Successors in Office in the just and full sum of Four
Hundred dollars for the payment of which sum to the said Ordinary as aforesaid
and his Successors in Office we find ourselves our lien executors and administrators
jointly and severally firmly by these present.
Sealed with our seals
and dated this 5th day of January Eighteen Hundred and Sixty nine.
The condition of the afore obligation is such that whereas the dais
Joseph Willis is this day appointed Guardian to Alonzo Morgan, Thaddeus
Morgan and Mary S Morgan orphans of Jessee Morgan deceased; now if the said
Joeph Willis do well and truly demean himself as Guardian aforesaid agreeably
to Letter of Guardianship bearing even date herewith and agreeable to law
in such a case made and provided, the above obligation to be void otherwise

Georgia, Carroll County} Upon application
of JJ Mixon and his wife SD Mixon, late widow of Jesse Morgan, deceased
for the appraisement of the estate of said deceased, and for appointment
of appraisers for that and for the setting apart and assigning years support
is ordered that a warrant of appraisement do issue to David Grey and Hasting
Scroggins and John Shaddox for the purpose of appraising and setting apart
the same in leaves (terms?) of law. Jan 26th 1869.

County} To David Gray, FM Rooks, John Shaddox, and Hasting Scroggins - Greeting
- You, or a majority of you, are appointed and directed to appraise
the property and effects, belonging to the estate of Jesse Morgan late of
said County deceased, and to make out an inventory or schedule of the same,
including real and personal estate and after a due valuation of the same;
if the whole amount of the said estate does not exceed in value the sum
of five hundred dollars; then you are directed and required to set apart
and assign to his late widow and his children the whole of said estate for
the support and maintenance of said widow and children. And it having been
made to appear to me, that SD Mixon the late widow of the said Jesse Morgan
deceased, and that he left by her as his said widow, one infant child, named
Elizabeth R Morgan, and it further appearing that the said Jesse Morgan
left three minor children by a former wife deceased, viz - Alonzo Morgan,
Thadeus Morgan and Mary Ann S Morgan. Now you are required by law, to set
apart and assign to the said three children by the deceased wife separately
from that allowed to the widow and her child: specifying the portion given
to the said three children by the deceased wife, and after making a schedule
and appraisement of said property so set apart by you to each party as above,
after first being duly sworn to execute this order, according to the best
of your judgement and knowledge, you will return the same under your hands
and seals, to me within two (three?) months from the date of said action.
In testimony whereof I have officially set my hand and seal, this 26th January

We the undersigned names having went according to appointment and appraised
the property belonging to the estate of Jesse Morgan late of said County
deceased, to the best of our judgements. Finding it amounting to $380.45,
being under the amount of $500.00 five hundred dollars. Where of we set
apart for the three children of the dec'd, wife of the said Jesse Morgan
to wit Alonzo Morgan, Thadius Morgan, and Mary S Morgan, the north half
of lot of land No. 9 nine, in the 4th District of said County, as their
property, as a part of said estate for their support and maintenance to
be their property forever, except the rent for five acres of land lying
around the house for this year. HC Scoggins, David Gray, John Shaddox
Georgia, Carroll County} We the freeholders appointed to appraise the
property and affects of the estate of Jessee Morgan late of said County
dec'd, hereby set apart all of the purchable property to the late widow-
J S Mixing and Elizabeth R Morgan, the heir of the said Jessee Morgan dec'd
as their proportioned part of the estate for their support and maintenance
to be forever their own.
Additional Comments: Forgot to record
what Book this came from in Carroll County. In keeping with a previous document
on this estate I am inclined to say the Court of Ordinary Book A-B. |
