CLINCH COUNTY, GEORGIA

Clinch County was created in 1850 from Ware and Lowndes counties. Named for General Duncan L. Clinch, veteran of the War of 1812 and the Florida Indian Wars (1836-38). The county seat is Homerville. The original county seat was Polk.
