Thomas Joiner, age 90 years, one month and eight days. He was the oldest man in the county and was a life long citizen of the county. He was the father of twelve children, eight boys and four girls. Three boys were killed in the war. He has left behind him some of his children who are among Coffee county's best citizens. His wife and several children preceeded him to the grave. He was a life-long Missionary Baptist. He was buried at Carver church. He was a great hunter, having killed more than a thousand deer in Coffee county. He was a confederate veteran and a pensioner, but he has gone to answer the roll call over there, where sickness, sorrow, pain nor death are felt and feared no more. We must bid farewell to one of our best friends on earth.
