Friendship

Friendship, Georgia

Friendship, Georgia is a small, unincorporated rural crossroads community located in the lower end of Crawford County, near the Fort Valley border. [1, 2, 3]

History & Economy

The small settlement grew around the mid-to-late 1800s as a quiet, agricultural farming village. Like much of Crawford County—which was created in 1822 and is well-known for its rich history of potters, peach farming, and local icons like inventor John Pemberton—Friendship’s early economy was anchored by agrarian life and local trade.  [1, 2, 3]

Throughout the 1900s, community hubs like Hutto’s Store (run for decades by John and Ruth Hutto) served as important gathering places and supply centers for rural county residents.  [1]

The Community Today

Today, the village functions primarily as a quiet residential area. While the storefronts have largely faded into history, the legacy of the settlement remains preserved by the Friendship Community House (located at 10042 GA Hwy 42 South), which serves as an important local polling place and community hub.
