Polk Cemetery

This family cemetery is in the woods on the NW side of the intersection of Conners Road and Richardson Road, in the backyard of what was once the Polk plantation house (which faced what is today Richardson Road). There are only two graves:

Charles Marion Polk
Co A 56th GA Infantry
1836-1865

Un-inscribed fieldstone

The latter is probably a Polk child that died during the WBTS. It is definitely not the grave of his wife, Mittie Carnes, who went on to collect a Confederate pension years later.
