Short Title: To incorporate the Fayetteville academy in the county of Fayette, and to appoint trustees for the
same.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of [Illegible Text in General
Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That James Head, [Illegible Text
[Illegible Text [Illegible Text Gay, William Gilliland, senior, and [Illegible Text G [Illegible Text ,
[Illegible Text and they are [Illegible Text appointed, and they and their [Illegible Text in office, shall
and they are hereby declared to be a [Illegible Text corporate and politic, under the name and [Illegible
Text of the Trustees of the Fayette County Academy, with the [Illegible Text of using a common seal.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That said trustees shall be capable in law to sue and be sued, plead and
be impleaded, and shall be authorised to make such bye-laws and regulations as may be necessary for the
government of said academy, and for the advancement of literature in the same: Provided, such bye-laws be
not repugnant to the constitution and laws of this state; and may appoint such officers as they may think
proper, and remove the same from office for improper conduct or neglect of duty.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the said trustees shall be capable of accepting and being invested
with all manner of property, real and personal, all donations, gifts, grants, privileges and immunities
whatsoever which may belong to said institution, or which may hereafter be conveyed or transferred to
them or their successors in office, to have and to hold the same for the proper benefit and [Illegible Text of
said academy.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That when any vacancy may happen by death, resignation or otherwise,
of any of the trustees of said academy, the survivors or a majority of them, shall fill the same, in such
manner as shall be [Illegible Text ont by the bye laws and regulations of said institution: Provided, that
nothing in this act contained shall be construed so as to prevent the Senatus Academicus from the rights of
inspecting said institution, as now by law pointed out.
