Hiram H. Hawkins Aug. 18, 1833 to Jan 7, 1979 CSA Co B 22 GA Inf. Eliza Kitchens Hawkins Sept 30, 1835 to May 12, 1909 (they are on one side of a cypress tree)
"On the other side are two more adult graves. One with a slab and the other is in a vault type concrete rounded off top, with bricks on both ends. I think these would be his son George and his wife Laura, BUT ARE NOT PROVEN !!!!!!!!"
"There are 3 unmarked infant graves. Which I know one is my great aunt Gladys Florene Hawkins Feb 8, 1904 to Oct 16, 1909. (she died while Hiram & Eliza's son Robert Lee Hawkins still lived there (she was Robert's daughter) I believe one of the infant graves is Hiram's & Eliza's infant. On the 1900 census Eliza said she had 8 kids with 7 living. I know the other 7. The other infant I think is Hiram and Eliza's grandchild by their daughter Josephine by her first husband, a New Orleans bartender whom she divorced. She is living with Eliza in 1900 with having one child but it is not living. The infant that does have a marker is their son John's child. Bessie Hawkins Sept 2 1894 to June 24, 1896. (the rest of this large family, who almost all died young are buried at Mitchell Methodist) At the infant graves we found a head and foot brick. Eliza's was border all around with bricks, Hiram's slab was pushed up and almost on it's side."
"We found a relative, Robert Hawkins in Hezibah, Ga, that did all the labor of leveling the grave , clearing off and clearing a path to it and fencing it in. Him and his wife did this without much payment at all. My parents and I cleared off some, and did all the probing for the graves and markers, I also had markers made for Eliza and Glady's. We have that curved concrete border around each grave but left the bricks and stones as we found them."
"I am very excited about this find. and we will continue keeping it cleared and cut. I love pictures,. and I don't have any of Eliza or Hiram. Do you know of any Kitchen people that may have some?? Do you know how I can make this cemetery known to the county, so that nothing in the future will happen to it?"

My gr-gr grandmother was Eliza Kitchens Hawkins (married to Hiram H Hawkins)
A few years ago I located their homestead cemetery in the woods in Mitchell,
GA. What a day that was. All it was, was Hiram's slab with civil war marker
and one of his grandkids with a marker. I'll list below what we have found."
"Mrs. Dorothy Todd owns the property now, and gave us permission to fix
it up. Her sister, Ruth Hilson told us she remebered as a little girl that
there was about 4 adult graves with several infant graves behind them. (9/28/1999)
