The funerals of Mr. Henry C. Tanner and Mr. William F. Adams, both of whom were killed in an automobile accident near Swainsboro Wednesday morning were helf at Johnson Church beginning at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. A large gathering of friends and relatives from all over the county and from a distance were present at the funerals, which were conducted by Rev. W.S. Norton, the pastor.
Mr. Barney T. Johnson who was in the car with them was seriously hurt and did not regain consciousness until Thursday morning. Reports at that time were that he would recover. He is still in Swainsboro. Another member of the party in the car, Mr. Robt M. Johnson was not seriously hurt and a young son of Mr. B. T. Johnson also escaped serious injury.
They all had left Warrenton early Wednesday morning to join a number of Warrenton people who were on a fishing trip at the Satilla River in Emanuel County and the accident happened about 10:30 o'clock at a place on the Swainsboro-Wadley road, known as the J. R. Kitchens' curve, which was said to be slippery from recent rains. In rounding this curve the car turned over and Messrs. Adams and Tanner were instantly killed.
The news of this terrible accident quickly reached Warrenton and a number of people went to the scene. The bodies of the victims were brought to their homes Wednesday night.
Mr. Adams is also a well known and highly esteemed citizen of our county and besides his widow leaves four daughters and five sons. These are Mrs. Rob Hadden, of Waynesboro; Mrs. W. E. Johnson, Mrs. Aaron Raley and Miss Rosie Adams; Messrs. Ellis, Ed, Seaborn, George and John Adams.

Last Thursday night at his home at Mitchell, Ga, this life of action passed out, but we can not say his life is dead-for the school children now growing up in dear old Glascock county will know and enjoy the fruits of this honorable and hard working man, as will the children yet unborn, for years to come.
Mr. Allen loved children and his whole heart was to see them-all of them-have an opportunity to be competent, honorable, good men and women.
He loved his kinfolks and always rendered a service of good counsel to all of them in need, and he always pointed to the higher and nobler things to be achieved in this life, to all that he daily came in touch with. His friends trusted him implicitly and his politcal friends respected him always, and knew that deep down in his heart his thoughts were for right only.
Mr. Allen was a tower of strength in the Baptist church, in school work and all the community in which he lived and walked his daily life.
He united his heart and life in marriage twenty-six years ago to that wonderful christian character, Miss Mae Veazey, of Warren county. She survives Mr Allen, as does one brother, Mr. W. D. Allen, and two sisters, Mrs. Bob Harris and Mrs. Georgia Walden, of Wrens, and many nieces and nephews.
In appreciation of his friendship and love many friends sent beautiful floral offerings, and funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jesse Gilmore, Rev. Bob Dudley and Rev Walker at the grave at Mitchell on Saturday. I was at school with Mr Allen at the tender age of ten years and have known him as an honorable, determined man, with much energy to achieve success in his every undertaking in life, and all these years we have appreciated Mr. Allen's good friendship and known that his life was full of good deeds and a wonderful example for the children to live by.
Many, many are the sorrowing friends that regret to see Mr. Allen leave this life and wish for him and his noble wife-peace. Herbert A Williams-Gibson Record 12 Feb 1930
E of 84 years Mrs. Elizabeth Braddy, mother of Hon. E. L. Braddy breathed her last at the home of her son, E L Braddy, about one mile from Gibson Sunday night about eight o'clock. Mrs. Braddy had been in declining health for some time, and while her going has cast a gloom and sorrow over her relatives and friends, it was no surprise to them. The deceased is the relic of Thos. J. Braddy, who preceded her to the grave many years ago. E. L. Braddy, Glascock's representative in the Legislature, is her son. Gibson Record 14 June 1922
Mr. Richmond Beckworth, a life long citizen of Glascock county, after declining health for many years, died at his home in the Mitchell community Wednesday, Sept 9th. Mr. Beckworth was one of Glascock county's successful farmers. He had previous to his death been a member of Friendship church, near Mitchell, for 50 years, he being at the time of his death 79 years of age. Funeral services and burial were had at Mt. Zion church, in this county, on Thursday. The deceased is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Geo. W. Kent, of Glascock County, and Mrs. Albert Rogers, of Jefferson county, besides other relatives. The Record joins the many friends of the deceased in extending its symphaty to the bereaved relatives. It it with much sadness that we record the death of little Catherine Brassell, the 10 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs W A Brassell, which occurred at her home here Tuesday, October 14. She had been sick for the past two years and although her passing was a sad shock to our little town and community, we feel sure our loss is only her gain and that she is far happier now than she could ever have been here.
She is survived by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. W. D. Allen and Mr. And Mrs. D. L Brassell and a number of relatives.
The funeral was held at Fellowship church Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock with Rev. Walker, of Mitchell, conducting the services. A large number of relatives and friends were present at the funeral and the deepest sympathy of the people of the community goes out to the bereaved family. Gibson Record-22 Oct 1930
Mr. James F. Brassell died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Susie Carroll, in Dublin, Ga, at 4 o'clock Sunday morning, November 10th. Mr Brassell suffered a stroke of paralysis Saturday immediately before his death Sunday. Mr. Brassell was a well known citizen of Glascock county, having lived in Gibson and the county all of his life until he went to Dublin to live with his daughter, Mrs. Susie Carroll. He had been in feeble health for some time previous to the stroke of paralysis Saturday from which he died Sunday morning. Practically everybody in Glascock county knew "Jimmy" Brassell.
The deceased was 82 years of age at the time of his death, and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mamie Kent, of Douglas and Mrs. Susie Carroll of Dublin, and several grandchildren. The body of the deceased was brought to Gibson, where funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church by Rev. Charles Dudley, after which service the remains were taken in charge by the Masonic order, of which the deceased was a member, and were buried with Masonic honors. A large concourse of people attended the funeral of the deceased attesting their friendship and remembrance of him.
The Record joins the many friends of the deceased in extending to his relatives their sympathy in this their sad hour of bereavement. Gibson Record 13 Nov 1929
Emory Buffington, Jr son of Mr. Emory Buffington of Mitchell, Ga, died Monday morning from injuries he received Sunday night, April 12th, about 9:30 o'clock within the incorporate limits of Gibson, at the foot of the hill just beyond the Baptist church going west. From information of those in the accident, when it occurred, Emory Buffington, Hugh Buffington, Curtis Johnson and Homer Morgan were riding in a truck headed toward Mitchell, and Henry Daniel, son of Aaron Daniel, and Louis Story were in a car driven by Henry Daniel headed for Gibson. The truck had been stopped and was standing still on the right side of road, when the Daniel car approaching from the opposite direction coming down the hill struck young Buffington, inflicting injuries which resulted in his death at 5 o'clock Monday morning. This is the first automobile accident within the incorporate limits of Gibson resulting in the death of the injured party. Gibson Record 15 Apr 1931
Grady Chalker, the 18 year old son of Mr. And Mrs. Joe Chalker died at the home of his parents in this county, at 7 o'clcok on the morning of Nov 28th, 1921, from a malignant attack of pneumonia. The deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Joe Chalker, seven sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were conducted at Johnson's church, in Warren County, Wednesday afternoon, interment of the remains being in the Johnson's church cemetery. Last Sunday night about 9 o'clock, little Inez Chalker, 6 years of age, was shot and instantly killed by a Mr. Perdue, of Stapleton. According to reports, the child was making a fire in the stove to cook supper and two drunken men on the outside of the house became engaged in a difficulty, or fight, and in some way a pistol was discharged taking effect in the little girls mouth. It was taken from the back of her head by Dr. Tobe Snide of Gibson. On investigation the bullet was found to have come from Perdue's pistol. Perdue and Warlic are in jail here. Mr. Robert Chalker who was carried to Rawling's Sanitarium at Sandersville Sunday September 6th and operated on for appendicitis died at the sanitarium last Wednesday morning, and his remains were brought back to his home about one mile from Gibson. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, burial following in the cemetery of that church. The deceased is survived by his widow, and several other relatives. Friends of the deceased extend their sincere symphathy to the bereaved widow and other relatives. Gibson Record 16 Sept 1925
Mr. Wm A Chalker died at his home in Warren county February 27th. He was for many years a resident of this (Glascock) county and was well known. Funeral services were conducted and burial had in the Chalker burying plot near the home of the late J. J. Chalker in Glascock County, MRS. POLLYANN DIXON
Mrs. Pollyann Dixon, familiarly called aunt Pollyann, died at her home three miles south of Gibson, Tuesday of last week, November 22nd. She was the widow of Prettyman Dixon, who died many years ago. The deceased is survived by four children and several grand children and she was 91 years of age at the time of her death. Funeral services over the remains of the deceased were held at Fellowship Wednesday, near Gibson, same being conducted by Rev. J. W. Brantley, Jr, of Gibson, in connection with which was a very impressive talk on the life she lived, and her steadfast belief in the saving grace of her Saviour. Complying with her request before her death, two old favorite songs of hers were sung. Everybody who knew her loved "Aunt Pollyann" and extend their condolence to her sorrowing relatives.
Avera, Ga, June 12th-The funeral of R. W. Dixon, 68, who died here today will be held at Pleasant Grove church Monday at 11 o'clock.
Mr Dixon had been a resident of Avera all his life and was one of the most prominent merchants of the city. He posseessed a pleasing personality which won for him scores of friends who will learn with sorrow of his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Claud Dixon; two sons, Clarence and R. W. Dixon, Jr of Avera; two daughters Miss Sallie Lee and Mrs. C. W. Williams, of Augusta, also several grandchildren-Augusta Chronicle. Gibson Record 15 June 1927
Another old and honored Confederate Veteran of Warren County has "passed over the river to rest in the shade of the trees." Death came Friday night to Hon. James M English after a short illness. He was in his 85th year, and was a prominent member of one of the pioneer and leading families of this county. He died at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. W. E. English, where he had lived for some time. Mr. English was up to a few years ago prominent in public affairs and among other honors had represented his county in the legislature. He fought through the entire war between the states and served his country faithfully in peace as well as war. He is survived by one brother, Mr. T. A. English, of Warrenton, and leaves a daughter, Mrs. Dora Montgomery, of Augusta; two sons, Mr. Joe L. English, of Warrenton, and Mr. Jim English of Norfolk, Va.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. C. Wilson at 3:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, a large gathering of relatives and friends being present at Johnson church. His daughter and sons were here before the funeral and among other relatives from a distance here were his grand-daughter, Mrs. T. G. Gauntt of West Point; Mr. Fred Montgomery, of Miami, Fla; Mr. And Mrs. Alex Montgomery, of Augusta; Mr. W. B. Mrs. William Faglie, age 22, died Tuesday, July 21, of typhoid fever at the home of her parents, Mr. And Mrs. C. C. Faglie, after a week's illness. Although it was realized she was very ill her condition was not considered serious and her death was a severe shock to her many friends and relatives. Funeral services were conducted at four o'clock Wednesday afternoon by Rev. I. C. Walker, of Mitchell. The deceased is survived by her husband, her father, Mr. M. C. Dye, two brothers, one sister, and quite a number of relatives. Gibson Record 29 July 1931
Mr. Jacob A Fulghum, aged 78 years, died almost suddenly at his home here at 1:30 o'clocl Friday afternoon of last week. While Mr. Fulghum had been in bad health since a stroke of paralysis about severn years ago, which almost deprived him of the power of speech and otherwise affected his physical condition, he was up and about when stricken Friday, and his death was unexpected and was a shock to the community Mr. Fulghum was born in Washington county and came to Warren county when quite a young man. He lived for about 40 years near Beall Springswhere he operated a large farm, and was distinguished as the originator of the strain known as "Fulghum Oats." Many years ago his attention was attracted by birds feeding on one stalk of oats in a field which was ripening much earlier than the others. He secured one or two grains from this stalk and carefully planted same in his garden. From this small beginning he developed the well-known oats which bear his name, and are known from one side of the country to the other. In the records of the agricultural department of the United States there appears a history of Mr. Fulghum's work in developing this early strain of oats. Mr. Fulghum in addition to being deeping interested in scientific agriculture was also for many years a breeder of fine horses and cows. He was recognized as a leader also in church affairs, being a deacon in the Warrenton Baptist church at the time of his death, and held the same position for over thirty-five years in Long Creek Baptist church before moving to Warrenton to live about ten years ago.
Mr Fulghum was married to Miss Atlanta Fowler, of Warren County, and from this union there are now living five sons and two daughters. These are Mr. J. Leon Fulghum, of Warrenville, S.C.' Messrs J. Bunyan and Jesse F. Fulghum, of Warren County; Rev. James F. Fulghum, of Sparta; Mr. Paul Fulghum, of Aiken, SC; Mrs W. G Bryan, of Riddleville and Mrs. J. W. Kelley, of Culverton.
Mr. Fulghum's second marriage was to Miss Della Courson, of Warren county, who survives him, with the children of this union who are Dr. R. Lin Fulghum and Misses Ellie Wree and Lillian Fulghum, of Warrenton He is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. All his sons and daughters and nearly every member of the families of those married were present at the funeral services held at the home here Saturday afternoon at three o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. P. Brooks, Jr, pastor of the Baptist church here, assisted by Rev. E. C. Wilson, pastor of the Warrenton Methodist church. After the services the remains were carried to the Fulghum place and laid to rest in the family cemetery there. The six sons of Mr. Fulghum were pallbearers-Warrenton Clipper. Mrs. E. G. Gilman died at her home on Midway, Hardwick, Ga, Saturday morning, April 2nd. While her illness was brief and her suffering was intense she underwent an operation and died shortly afterwards.
Mrs. Gilman before her marriage was Miss Johnnie Hawkins, daughter of the late John H. Hawkins, of Mitchell, Ga. Mrs. Gilman was 24 years old at the time of her death and was a member of the christian church at Hardwick. She is survived by her husband, Ernest G. Gilman and two little daughters, oldest being 2 years old and the youngest 4 months old, also a host of relatives and friends who mourn her death.
The funeral services were conducted from the Christian church Sunday afternoon at three o'clock by the pastor, Rev. Sipple. After the services were over at the church her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Milledgeville under beautiful floral offerings. Gibson Record 13 Apr 1927
News of the death of Mr. Thos. Glover reached Gibson Sunday afternoon. The report is that Mr. Glover was killed in an automobile accident in Mississippi last Saturday. Mr. Glover is a son of Mr. Wilson Glover, a well known citizen of this county, but he had made his home in different parts of the country. The remains of the deceased are expected to reach Avera, Ga in two or three days, where Interment will take place in the cemetery of Pleasant Grove church at Avera. Gibson Record 15 Dec 1926
After many months of suffering from a stroke of paralysis, Mr. W. T. Griffin died at his home about six miles from Gibson last Saturday afternoon, June 11th. Mr. Griffin was a prominent citizen of this (Glascock) county, he having been born and raised in Glascock county. He was the son of Mr. And Mrs. N. E. Griffith, both of whom died many years ago. Mr. Griffin at the time of his death was 65 years of age. The deceased had helf the office of jury reviser for this county for several years. At the time of his death, Mr. Griffin was vice-president of the Bank of Gibson, and was a large stockholder in the bank. He is survived by his widow, one son J. A. Griffin; one daughter Mrs. Paul Swint; four brothers, N. J., D.C., E. E. and James Griffin; three sisters, Mrs. B. L. Kitchens, of Warrenton; Mrs. J. D. Kitchens and Mrs. L. D. Usry. Most of his nearest relatives being residents of Glascock county Funeral services over the remains were conducted Sunday afternoon at Johnson church in Warren county, Rev's W. J. Howard and J. M. Gilmore officiating, burial being had in the church cemetery. Floral offerings were both beautiful and elaborate. Mr. Cicero C. Guy, highly respected and well known citizen of Warren County, died at his home near Mayfield Tuesday morning.
Mr Guy was in his 80th year and had fulfulled all the duties of life in a most worthy manner, setting an example with profit by the present generation. He was reared in the vicinity of Brier Creek church where his membership was at the time of his death. He had been a member for 61 years.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 o'clock in Horeb church by Rev. J.L. Clegg, pastor of the Warrenton Baptist church, after which his remains were laid to rest in the Horeb cemetery by the side of those of his wife, who died several years ago.
He leaves four sons and three daughters. These are Mr. J. F. Guy of McDuffie county, and Messrs. Jesse, T. M. and C. L. Guy, of Warren county. Mrs B. A. Bedsole, of Hancock county; Mrs H. A. Whaley, of Rockhill, SC and Mrs C. I Stanley of Warren county-Warrenton Clipper -Gibson Record 28 Dec 1932
Mrs John H. Hadden died at her residence Thursay at 1:30 o'clock, in her 61st year folowing an illness of three days duration. She was a much beloved woman, an ideal wife and mother and a friend of all. She had been a member of Pleasant Grove Church, Avera for 43 years and always faithful to her church and ready and willing to aid in her Master's work. Her sweet Christian life has always been one of unselfishness and thoughtfulnes of others. Her influence for good as passed from heart to hear will stand when marble monuments have crumbled into dust. While the Baptist Church was crowded to overflowing and hearts bursting with grief, softest strains arose from the talented hands of Mrs. Charlie Harden and Mrs. Hadden's favorite song, "Will I Be Missed" from the lips of Miss Lucile Gibbs and J. T. Thigpen, melted the audience to tears. She will be greatly missed in the home, in the church and by her host of friends.
She and John H Hadden were united in the holy bonds of matrimony forty years ago. Five children were born of this union, three surviving her.
Funeral services were held at Pleasant Grove Church Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock . Rev W. M. Gilmore, Wrens, Ga, paster of the church officiated. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were C. R. Dixon, W. C. Phillips, B. G. Thompson, S.P. Thigpen, J.M. LaFavor and H.M. Boatwright, Tennille.
She is survived by her husband, John H. Hadden; three children, one daughter, Mrs Will Thompson, Augusta; two sons, Jean and Hubert Hadden; one sister Mrs. Jenny Neal, Gibson; and ten grand-children. Gibson Record 28 July 1926
Funeral services were held at Mill Creek church yesterday afternoon at two o'clock for Mrs. Elizabeth Snider Harrell, wife of Mr. Matthew Harrell. Rev R. B. Harrison conducted the services which were attended by a large number of friends and relatives. Mrs. Harrell, who was 71 years old, died at the home near Jewell Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, after an illness of pneumonia and complications of about two weeks duration. She was a member of Long Creek Church and her life had been one of loving devotion to her family and friends. She and her bereaved husband had lived and labored together for 54 years and her wise and sympathetic counsel will be sadly missed. Besides her husband, she leaves four sons and two daughters to mourn her loss. These are Messrs. Fred, James, Ellis and Albert Harrell; Mrs. B. K. Harris and Mrs. Russell Gheesling. Mr William Owen Harrell departed this life at his home near Mitchell, Wednesday afternoon, September 16th, after a long illness, lasting for several years, during which time he was confined to his bed most of the time. No citizen of the county is old enough to furnish information as to the birth place of Mr. Harrell, but it is said he had lived in Glascock county since it was created a couty 74 years ago, and it may be that he was born in Warren county, which is now Glascock county.
Mr. Harrell was a well known citizen of Glascock and adjoining counties, being engaged for a number of years in the sawmill business. He was tax collector of Glascock county for two successive terms. He was a Condeferate soldier and lost a leg in the War Between the States. Mr Harrell was 97 years of age at the time of his death, and is survived by his widow, who was before her marriage to Mr. Harrell a mIss Bales; two sons, Ed Harrell and W. E. Harrell, and one daughter, Mrs. Susie Davis, and several grandchildren. Funeral services over the remains of the deceasd were held at Mt Nebo Primitive Baptist church near Mitchell, Thursday afternoon being conducted by Rev. J. W. Brantley and Mr. Sam T. Downs, burial following in the church cemetery.

Many relatives and friends from Warren, Glascock and other counties went to Augusta Sunday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Annie Kitchens Hutt, whose sad death occurred there Thursday afternoon of last week. Mrs. Hutt was 37 years of age and was a daughter of Mrs. B. L. Kitchens, of Warrenton. Her death came after an illness of only three weeks. Funeral services were conducted at the home, 1127 Telfair Street, at three o'clock by Rev. J. A. Schaad, rector of the Episcopal Church in Augusta, of which Mrs. Hutt was a member, the interment following in Westover Cemetery, with the burial ceremony following in Westover Cemetery by members of the Eastern Star fraternity. Besides her mother, Mrs. Hutt leaver her husband, Mr. H. Taylor Hutt, and six children. She is also survived by two sisters and seven brothers, these being Mrs. W. T. Johnson, of Warrenton; Mrs. V. L. McLaulin, of Sanford, Fla; Mr. G. W. Kitchens, Dr. D. S. Kitchens, Mr. E. A. Kitchens, Mr. C. N. Kitchens, of Warrenton; Mr. M. N. Kitchens, of Norwood, and Mr. W. H. Kitchens, of Stapleton. Mrs. Ivey, wife of Mr. A. J. Ivey, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. M. C. Dye, near Gibson at 3:30 o'clock in the morning, Saturday July 31st. Mrs. Ivey was 62 years of age at the time of her death. She leaves surviving her, her husband Mr. A. J. Ivey; two sons, B. Hubert Ivey, of Augusta and W. Luke Ivey, of Macon. Two daughters, Mrs. Sol Davis, of Warren County, and Mrs. M. C. Dye of Gibson. Funeral services were held at Mill Creek church, Sunday, August 1st Rev. W. A. H. Flynt, of Norwood, conducting the funeral service. The body was interred in the Mill Creek church cemetery. Sympathy of many friends is extended the bereaved relatives. Gibson Record-4 Aug 1926
Mrs. Seaborn Jones passed away last Monday morning about six o'clock after several months illness. She was a consecrated christian woman, of a bright sunshiny disposition, scattering rays of sunshine along the path of life, altho in the last few months her sufferings were great. She leaves a devoted husband, three sons and three daughters, all grown, to mourn her sad demise. She was before marriage Miss Mamie Guy, of the Reedy Creek section of Warren county, and a sister of Messrs. Will and John Guy, of near Thomson. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock at Sweetwater church where she was a member, conducted by Rev. C. C. Kiser, of Thomson, her pastor, interment immediately after in the cemetery nearby. We extend out deepest sympathy to the bereaved ones. Gibson Record 1 Aug 1928
At 4:15 o'clock Sunday morning October 22, 1922 J. Louis Kelley Jr, the five year old son of Dr. and Mrs. J. Louis Kelley of Gibson surrendered his innocent and sweet life to God who gave it, and his spirit took flight to the heaven beyond the skies to await the happy re-union of parents and child. The flowers of friends and relatives were beautiful and profuse. The casket in which the little body reposed was white, it being emblematical of innocence. Funeral services were conducted Monday by Rev T E Murray, pastor of the Gibson Methodist Church, burial being in the family plot in the cemetery of the Methodist Church. Sumpathetic hearts and restrained tears are evidence of the love and esteem, and devoted affection entertained by relatives and friends of Dr. and Mrs. Kelley in the loss of their little son, J. Mr. Alton Kitchens passed away July 7, 1931, after a short illness. He was 47 years of age. His death came as a shock to his family and the community. They knew he was very sick, but did not realize he was no near death. We can't say whether he sleeps with Jesus or not, but it is known that he prayed earnestly before he died and we believe he prayed through. His talk after he was taken sick was ito do right and we know he would forgive anyone quickly. It is seldom grown people are like that. When people would treat him wrong he would say to his wife there is not any use saying anything. We have to live and let live. He leaves a place in the home that cam never be filled. When the mother would get dinner ready if he was gone she and the children would sit on the porch and watch for daddy but it is sad that now they can wait but can't see him anymore. He had only one grandchild and he loved him almost as well as if he was his own. Death visits every home, therefore prepare ye one and all for we know not the day nor the hour. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Janie Harden Kitchens; eight children, Mrs. Acey McCoy, Mrs. W. L. Williams, Hoyt Kitchens, Silas Kitchens, Estelle Kitchens, Mary Belle Kitchens, Harris Kitchens and Slidell Kitchens; one grandchild, Vance Williams; his mother and father, Mr. And Mrs. J V Kitchens; three sisters Mrs. Alex LaFavor, Wrens; Mrs. Radford LaFavor, Brooklet; Mrs. Tom Horton, Brooklet; four brothers, Mr. Frank Kitchens, of Gibson; Mr. Louis Kitchens, of Gibson; Mr. Buron Kitchens, of Avera; Mr. Hose Kitchens, of Avera, and a number of other relatives. Last Thursday night, Nov, 4th, God saw fit to visit the home of Mr. Erastus Kitchens and call his wife to her eternal home. Mrs. Kitchens was only sick but a few minutes, as she died almost suddenly. Mrs. Kitchens was 51 years of age. She leaves a mother, Mrs. Barfield, one sister, her husband, Mr. Erastus Kitchens, three sons, John T, W. Lewis and E. J. Kitchens, also three daughters, Mrs. Mollie Usry, Mrs. Carrie Dixon and Mrs. Nellie Johnson besides other relatives and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Being stricken with paralysis Thursday of last week Mr. James Kitchens died at his home in Gibson Friday morning at one o'clock. Mr. Kitchens had suffered two or three strokes of paralysis previous to the last one which caused his death. By trade the deceased was a wheelright and blacksmith. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Missouri Kitchens, four brothers, Orren, R L, Pierce and T J Kitchens; two daughters, Mrs. J. F. Tompkins and Mrs. H. G. Sammons. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Gibson Saturday morning, Mr. W. A. Walden officiating. Interment was in the Methodist church cemetery. Gibson Record-1922
Miss Mamie Kitchens, only 17 years of age, of Augusta, committed suicide last Wednesday by shooting herself. Ill health is thought to have impaired her mind. Funeral services were conducted Thursday by Rev. Willis Howard, of Wrens at Magnolia Church near here. Mitchell-Special--Mrs. Rachael Kitchens passed away last Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. C. Kelley, after an illness of several weeks duration. The interment was in the Methodist church cemetery at noon on Friday. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Dell, pastor of the Mitchell Methodist church.
Mrs. Kitchens was born and reared in Warrenton, she being a Miss Scruggs, an illustrous and highly respected family of people. She joined the Methodist church in her early teens and lived a devout, loyal christian all her life. Soon after the Civil War she married Mr. Terrell Kitchens and unto this wedlock was born four daughters, Mrs. A. B. Hattaway and Mrs. C.C. Kelley, of Mitchell; Mrs. J. R. Neal, of Wrightsville, and Mrs. C. I. Twilley, of Jewell. Mrs. Kitchens had four brothers, Messrs. James, Solomon, Thomas and Dr. E. G. Scruggs, and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Burkhalter, of Warrenton; Mrs. Mary Moxley, of Moxley; and Mrs J. S. Scruggs, only Mrs. Moxley and Mrs. Burkhalter are living.
"Miss" Rachael was truly a good woman and was beloved by everybody. She will be sorely missed by her family, her town, her church and her community. She was eight-eight years of age. Gibson Record 18 July 1928
After declining health for about a year, Mr. Farris Landrum died at his home in what is known as the Blankenship Mill district in this county, Saturday, March 5th, 1932. Mr. Landrum was the son of Mr. Jacob S. Landrum of Glascock county, and is survived by his father, J. S. Landrum; his widow, who before her marriage was Miss Lillian Williams; several children and grand-children, besides brothers and sisters. Rev. J. W. Brantley conducted the last sad rites over the remains of the deceased which were held at Magnolia church near Gibson, Sunday, March 6th, burial being in the church yard cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the many friends of the deceased. He was 50 years of age at the time of his death. Gibson Record-9 March 1932
Mrs. Langham, widow of Rev. W. C. Langham, died at her home near Mill Creek church Saturday, July 21st, her death being due to an illness of about a month, coupled with her advanced age. Mrs Langham is survived by three sons and two daughters.
Mrs. Langham before her marriage was Miss Hammett, a sister of Mr. W. R. Hammett, who was well known as a citizen of Glascock County. Funeral services were held at Mill Creek church Sunday afternoon, July 22nd, 1928, being conducted by Rev. J. M. Gilmore, burial being in the Mill Creek cemetery.

After suffering for several years Mrs. Rhoda Marsh, wife of Mr. Wm. M. Marsh, died at the family home near Mill Creek church in this county at 12 o'clock Saturday night last. Mrs. Marsh at the time of her death was 70 years of age, and was a woman who lived out her useful life in administering help to those who sought alms at her hands. She was devoted to her home and family, and always kept an open door for her friends and neighbors. The deceased is survived by her husband, Mr. Wm. M. Marsh; one son Mr. Alfred Marsh and one daughter Mrs. Tommie Usry, who is a widow. Funeral services were conducted at Magnolia church by Mr. Wm A. Walden, of Gibson, the burial taking place in the Magnolia Church cemetery. Condolence of many friends of the deceased are extended to the aged husband, son, daughter and grandchildren. Mrs. Gracy Nations, better known and commonly called "Aunt Gracy" wife of Mr. Jasper Nations, died at her home two or three miles south of Mitchell, Ga, at one o'clock Saturday morning, October 3, 1931. Aunt Gracy had been in rapidly declining health for a number of years, and for the past six months or more she had been confined to her bed unable to move without assistance of her husband, or some visitor who might be with her at the time she wanted her wasted and weary body turned in a different position. Her husband, Mr. Jasper Nations, was attentive to her in her helpless condition, and administered, as best he could, to her comfort in every way. Aunt Gracy was born in Warren county, Ga, now Glascock county, on February 25th, 1846, being at the time of her death 85 years of age. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist church, she having united with the Missionary Baptist church when quite young. She was Miss Gracy May before her marriage to Mr. Jasper Nations. The people in the community where she lived for so many years were very kind in looking after her needs for sustenance in her illness. The remains of the deceased were laid to their last resting place in the cemetery at Mt Zion church. Rev. Copeland was the officiating minister at the funeral held over the remains. While her relatives and devoted friends share the sorrow of her husband who survives her, yet they feel that their loss is heavens gain. Gibson Record 7 oct 1931
Mr. Aaron W. Newsome was found dead in his bed at the home of his sister, Mrs. J. D. Newsome, in Sandersville, early last Saturday morning. It is thought Mr. Newsome died between 12 and 6 o'clock Saturday morning. Mr. Newsome had been in declining health for several years, and was visiting at the home of his sister in Sandersville at the time of his death. Mr. Newsome was born and reared in Glascock county, being the son of Mr. And Mrs. Marcus Newsome, but he had made his home in Johnson county for several years. The deceased is survived by his wife, two daughters and one son. He was 71 years of age at the time of his death. Besides his immediate family, he is survived by a long line of relatives. Funeral services over the remains of the deceased were held in the Methodist church at Gibson Sunday afteroon, Rev. Shearouse, pastor of the Mitchell Methodist church, officiating. Mr. George Newsome died at Sandersville last Friday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Martha Newsome, after an illness of several months. Interment was in Mt Zion Cemetery Satruday afternoon. Mrs. Vianna Norton, wife of Mr. Elijah Norton, died at her home four miles east of Gibson, Saturday, Dec 11th. Mrs Norton was about 60 years old at the time of her death. She leaves surviving her, her husband, Mr. Elijah Norton, three daughters, Mrs. Mozell Penry, of Jefferson County; Mrs. Bud Rhodes, of Jefferson county; Mrs J J Killebrew, of Gibson; and one son, Mr. Lee Norton, of Augusta, besides other relatives. Funeral services over the remains of the deceased were conducted Sunday afternoon at Pleasant Grove church, near Avera. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery there. Mr. Isaac S. Peebles, Sr died at the University hospital in Augusta early Monday morning, January 19th 1931. Mr Peebles had been at the hospital for treatment for three weeks. It was thought Sunday, the 18th, that his condidtion had improved. Me. Peebles was at the time of his death 84 years of age, and was in point of years the oldest citizen of Gibson. He was born and reared in Jefferson county, Ga. And located to Gibson in 1871 or 1872. Mr. Peebles engaged in the mercantile business in Gibson since settling in the town. He also had some farming interest. He was very successful in all lines of endeavor and amassed a neat little fortuen, which he leaves to his posterity.
Mr Peebles was a member of the Baptist church at Gibson, and a member of Gibson lodge No. 257, F & A M and had held the office of Worshipful Master for two or three years. Mr. Peebles was an advocate of honest, fair and just dealings with his fellowman. His widow, Mrs. Eliza Peebles, who survivies him, was before her marriage Miss Eliza Glover, daughter of Mr. Daniel Glover, of Jefferson County.
The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eliza Peebles; four sons and three daughters; the sons being Mr. Isaac S. Peebles, Jr, an attorney of Augusta; W. C. Peebles, of Augusta; Fred J Peebles of Nashville, Tenn, and Senator Leon L Peebles, of Gibson. The daughters are Mrs. Emmie Sams and Mrs. Ida Vincent, of Jacksonville, Fla, and Mrs. Agnes Dillard, of Greeneville, SC.. Several grandchildren also survivie him.
No definate announcemnet of funeral service for the deceased is known in Gibson at this time of writing but it is understood funeral services will take place here Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, and that the usual Masonic ceremonies will be observed at the burial.
This man who has been a resident of Gibson for sixty years will be greatly and sadly missed by the people of Gibson and Glascock county.
There are numerous relatives and friends of the deceased with whom the Record joins in extending its sincere sympathy to the bereaved and sorrowing relatives of his household. Gibson Record 21 Jan 1931
Charles W. Pilcher 73, died at the family residence, 929 Reynolds street, yesterday morning at 11 o'clock, after a long period of ill health. Though it was known his conditon was critical and liable to terminate fatally at any time, he appeared to be in usual condition Monday, but late in the night he was seized with paroxysms which caused his death a few hours later.
For a long number of years Mr Pilcher was identified with the business life of Augusta, but for quite a while he has been unable to get out to any extent and his business activities long since ceased. The funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Wilson's funeral apartments this afternoon at 5 o'clock. Rev Rembert G Smith, pastor of St John church, assisted by Rev. J.M. McFarland conducting the funeral services. Interment will be in the city cemetery.
At the time of his death he was surrounded by his family, to whom he was a devoted, self-sacrificing father, held in highest esteem, , love and admiration by his sons and daughter, who knew him more intimately than anyone else, and to them his death comes as a great loss. They will be recipients of cordial expression of sympaty from a large circle of friends.
Mr Pilcher was born in Warren County May 8, 1853 but moved to Augusta when quite a young man, taking an active part in civic and business affairs for that long period of time. He married Mrs. Harriet Spears. He was a member of Woodlawn Methodist church.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph S and John D. Pilcher, one daughter, Mrs. Berry H. Ellison, all of Augusta., and one sister, Mrs J. C. Evans of Warrenton, and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Zuline Rabun, wife of Mr. Clinton Rabun, died at her home near Bastonville last Saturday, Jan 23rd, 1926 after a lingering illness. The deceased is survived by her husband, Mr. Clinton Rabun; three sisters, Mrs. Ophelia Horton, Mrs. Lucile Wood and Mrs. Johnny Gilmore; one brother Mr. Bose Hawkins. Funeral services over the remains of the deceased were held at Mithcell Sunday afternoon, being conducted by Mr. Wiggins, pastor of the Mitchell Methodist Church. At the age of 78 years, Mrs. Jane Reese, wife of Mr. Merrell Reese, died at her home about 4 miles from Gibson, Sunday June 25th. At the time of her death the deceased was survived by one son John W. McCracken of Avera, Ga, and one sister Mrs. Eliza Shurley, of Gibson, her son, John W. McCracken dying Tuesday after the burial of his mother on Monday before. Funeral services over the remains of Mrs Reese were conducted at Pleasant Grove Church at Avera Monday by Rev. J. G. Page Pastor of that church. Uncle Merrell Reese, a well know citizen of this county, died at his home near, Gibson. Mr. Reese had been in declining health for some time, his physical condition being superinduced by a wound he received in his ankle and foot while doing service in the Confederate army in 1864. He was a veteran of the Civil War between the north and the south. His wife died several years ago. At the time of his death, Mr. Reese was 93 years of age. The deceased is survived by several nephews and nieces, but no brothers or sisters. The remains of uncle Merrell were laid in their last resting place in the Magnolia church cemetery three miles from Gibson on Thursday afteroon, June 9th. Mrs. Mamie Sammons, after about a years illness, died at her home here Tuesday, February 3, 1391. For twelve weeks previous to her death she had been confined to her bed, in practically a helpless condition. But she bore her fatal sickness with great fortitude, and never murmered against what she believed to be the hand of providence laid upon her. The deceased was at the time of her death fifty four years of age. She is survived by four childrem, three boys and one girl, the boys being George, Lewellyn and Grady Sammons, the daughter being Mrs. Charlie Turner, all of whom are residents of Gibson. She is also survived by four brothers, Orren Kitchens, Pierce Kitchens and R. L. and T. J. Kitchens, and two grandchildren. Services over the remains of the deceased were conducted by Rev. J. W. Brantley Wednesday morning at the Methodist Church in Gibson, burial being in the same church cemetery. Blessed are they who die in the Lord. On the 22nd, instant, Mr. Marshall Sheppard, a well known citizen of Gibson and Glascock County, died at his home in Gibson, after more than two week's illness. Mr. Sheppard was 42 years of age at the time of his death. Mr. Sheppard had twice been married, and is survived by his second wife. Funeral services over the remains of the deceased were conducted at Pleasand Grove church at Avera by Rev. J C Saville, intermnet following in the cemetery there. Mr. George W. Shurley died Tuesday night at his home five miles south of Warrenton. Up to about a week before his death he was apparently in his usual good health and his passing away was an unexpected shock to his family and hundreds of friends over the county. The cause of his death was stated to have been peritonitis. He was 71 years old and was one of Warren County's best men. For a long term of years he has been a deacon in Mill Creek Baptist Church and conscienciously lived and acted at all times in the firm belief that he was doing his duty to his family, his church and his country. His example in every relation of life can well be emulated by those of us left behind. Mr. Shurley is survived by a widow who was before her marriage, Miss Lizzie Dye, and also leaves four sons and two daughters, all of whom live in this county. They are, Mr. Edgar Shurley, Mr. Coyl Shurley, Mr. Cumming Shurley, Mr. Charlie Shurley, Mrs James O Hinton and Miss Della Shurley. Several hundred people attneded the funeral service held at Mill Creek Church at five o'clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. R. Chapman the pastor. Mitchell-Special-News of the death of Mr. Marion Smith at his home in Whittakers, N.C., was received this week at Mitchell. Mr. Smith was a son-in-law of Mr. And Mrs. A.M. Kitchens, of Mitchell, his widow being before marriage Miss Marguerite Kitchens. Their marriage took place a year ago last June. His death occurred Sunday and the funeral was in the city cemetery at Whittakers. Mr. Smith is also survived by his father; a sister, Mrs. Stallings, and a brother, Mr. Raymond Smith, all of Whittakers. Gibson Record 12 Feb 1930
It is with deep regret of sadness that we record the death of Mr. Willie Snider, 33 years of age, which occurred Thursday, January 15, at Rawlins sanitarium at Sandersville. He was sick only a week with pnemonia and his passing was a sad shock to every one, as he was unusually liked and admired by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife; one child; his parents, Mr. And Mrs. J.M. Snider; two sisters, Mrs Laura Towner, of Augusta, and Mrs. Fred Brassell; three brothers, Ether, Bunion and DeLeon Snider.
The funeral was held Friday at Mill Creek church and was conducted by Rev. I. C. Walker. A large number of relatives and friends were present at the funeral and the deepest regret of the communtiy goes out to the bereaved family-Gibson Record 21 Jan 1931
The funerals of Mr. Henry C. Tanner and Mr. William F. Adams, both of whom were killed in an automobile accident near Swainsboro Wednesday morning were helf at Johnson Church beginning at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. A large gathering of friends and relatives from all over the county and from a distance were present at the funerals, which were conducted by Rev. W.S. Norton, the pastor.
Mr. Barney T. Johnson who was in the car with them was seriously hurt and did not regain consciousness until Thursday morning. Reports at that time were that he would recover. He is still in Swainsboro. Another member of the party in the car, Mr. Robt M. Johnson was not seriously hurt and a young son of Mr. B. T. Johnson also escaped serious injury.
They all had left Warrenton early Wednesday morning to join a number of Warrenton people who were on a fishing trip at the Satilla River in Emanuel County and the accident happened about 10:30 o'clock at a place on the Swainsboro-Wadley road, known as the J. R. Kitchens' curve, which was said to be slippery from recent rains. In rounding this curve the car turned over and Messrs. Adams and Tanner were instantly killed.
The news of this terrible accident quickly reached Warrenton and a number of people went to the scene. The bodies of the victims were brought to their homes Wednesday night.
Mr Tanner is survived by his widow and three children, and also a daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. Coyle Shurley, of Gibson. He was a man of sterling qualities and has many friends who deplore his death. -From Warrenton Clipper-Gibson Record 21 July 1926
Avera-Special-Mrs. Sarah Jane Thigpen died Friday morning at the home of her son, Mr. Marvin Thigpen after an illness of four weeks. She was 67 years of age and had been in declining health for a number of years. She endured her suffering with all patience. The funeral was held at Pleasant Grove Church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. Ganer Page officiating. She was laid to rest in Pleasant Grove cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs Adam hadden, five sons, Marvin Thigpen of Avera, Sam Thigpen, of Davisboro, Price Thigpen of Avera, John Thigpen of Comer, Ala, Fred Thigpen of Davisboro and twenty six grand children. Mr. Freeman Thompson, who for several years has been in bad health, died at his home near Mitchell Saturday, December 6th. He was buried at the cemetery at Gibson Sunday, the funeral being conducted by Rev. J. G Page. Mr. Thompson ws reared near Gibson and lived here until last year when he and his wife moved to Mitchell to be with their children. He has a host of friends and relatives who are grieved at his death. He was 59 years of age at the time of his death. Those of his family who survive him are his wife, two sons. Mr. Hardy H. Todd died at the home of his son, Mr. James N. Todd, at Mitchell, January 28th, 1922. Mr. Todd had been in declining health for several years. He was a prominent citizen of Glascock county, and served four years in the Civil War, when he received a wound in his left leg which gave him much suffering and pain until his death. The deceased is survived by one son, Mr. James N. Todd. Uncle Hardy, as he was familarly known, was 83 years of age at the time of his death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev T. Mosely at Griffin Chapel Church near Mitchell, and the remains were laid in their last resting place in the Griffin Chapel cemetery. Thus another old hero of the Civil War has passed away. Mrs. Martha Underwood, widow of Adrian Underwood, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. E. Snider in Mitchell, Saturday, September 19th, she having been in declining health for the past two years or more. Mrs. Underwood was 79 years of age at the time of her death. Funeral services over the remains of the deceased were conducted Sunday, September 20th, at 10 o'clock a.m. , Rev. J.M. Gilmore being in charge of the funeral services; burial was had in the Baptist church cemetery at her home town, Mitchell.
The deceased is survived by three daughters, Mrs. J. M. Swint, Gibson, Ga; Mrs Emma Snider, Mitchell, Ga; and Mrs. Eva Kitchens, Augusta, Ga; two sons, Linton Underwood, Mitchell, Ga, and Carlos Underwood, Atlanta, Ga; twenty grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
While the numerous friends of the deceased recognize the fact that sympathy does not fill the aching void in mind and hearts of the sorrowing relatives of the deceased, yet this sympathy is unstintedly bestowed upon those bereaved on account of the loss of one so dear to their hearts and lives. On Saturday, April 11th, Mrs. Mollie Usry, age 36, died at the University Hospital in Augusta after an illness of two weeks. Although her health had not been good for some time her condition was not considered serious and her death was a shock. To her many friends and relatives. The funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church here Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock by Rev. David Brinkman, of Augusta. The deceased is survived by four small children, two boys and two girls, ages ten, eight, five and three; two sisters, Mrs. Oscar Johnson and Mrs. Clifford Dixon; three brother W.L, John T and E J Kitchens. At the age of 23 years Miss Myrtle Usry daughter of Mrs. G. W. Usry died at the family home Wednesday night of last week and her remains were laid to rest in the family cemeteryFriday following. The deceased is survived by her mother, four brothers and two sisters. The deceased is a niece of Mrs. G. L. Thompson. Mr. Alfred Walden, who was killed on the fair grounds in Wrightsville Thursday night, was buried at Mt. Nebo last Sunday at 11 o'clock, Rev Jim May conducting the funeral service. After being confined to her home for only a few days, Mrs. J.W.P. Whiteley passed away at 2 o'clock Saturday morning, July 9th. Mrs. Whiteley was the widow of the late Mr. J. W. P. Whiteley, who died at his home in Gibson a little more than 16 years ago. Mrs. Whiteley was known practically by every person residing in Glascock County, as she was born in Glascock County, and spent all her life in the county of her birth, and having been a resident of Gibson since her marriage to Mr. J.W.P. Whiteley, following the War Between the States.
Mrs. Whitely is the last member of the family of her parents, Mr. And Mrs. J. Madison Williams, her father, mother, brothers and sisters having preceded her in death many years. Mrs. Whiteley of her immediate family is survived by one son, Mr. J. W. Whiteley of Warrenton, Ga, he being her only child.
The deceased was 80 years of age at the date of her death. Funeral services over the remains of the deceased were conducted at the Methodist church in Gibson Sunday afternoon July 10th, Rev. C.M. Haynes, pastor of the Methodist church at Warrenton, officiating.
The attendance at the funeral was unusually large, being composed of relatives and friends in Glascock, Jefferson and Warren counties.
Mr. J. Cecil Whiteley, Mr. W. Roger Whiteley, and Mrs. W. G. Lasseter (Louise Whiteley) are the surviving grandchildren of the deceased. To the surviving relatives of the deceased the heartfelt sympathy of a multitude of sorrowing friends is extended.
On Friday January 3oth 1931 Mrs. Amanda Williams, widow of W. T. Williams, died at her home about four miles south of Gibson. Funeral services over the remains of the deceased were conducted at Fellowship church Saturday afternoon at four o'clock, Rev. I. C. Wlaker, pastor of the Mitchell methodist church, being the official clergyman. Mrs. Williams was the widow of W. T. (uncle Willie) Williams, who died about a year ago. The deceased is survived by two sons, Isaac Beckworth of Texas, and W. A. Beckworth of Baxley, Ga, they being the children of a former marriage to a Mr. Beckworth, and two daughters, Mrs. D. H. Perdue of Gibson, and Mrs Henry Phillips, of Stapleton, by intermarriage with her second husband, W. T. Williams. Had the deceased reacher her birthday in April next, she would have been 81 years of age. The Record mingles its sympathy with other friends of the sorrowing relatives-Gibson Record 4 Feb 1931
Mr. John T Williams died Saturday night at his home three miles north of here after an illness of several weeks. At the time of his death he was 54 years and 5 days old. Funeral services took place Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at Magnolia church, Rev. W. W. Glover conducting the services, after which interment took place in the Magnolia cemetery.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Ola Williams, he is survived by one son, Horace Williams, and one daughter Ethel Williams; his father Mr. Ben Williams, of Stapleton, and several sisters and brothers-Gibson Record 23 Nov 1932

A Sad Death
On last Sunday morning at 6 o’clock, Mrs. H. A. Williams, nee Miss Mary Lou Kitchens, after an illness of two weeks breathed her last. All that medical skill could do or suggest was done for her, but to no avail, and she compelled to yield her suffering body to the grim monster, death. She had been married to Mr. Herbert A, Williams of this place for little more than a year. Her husband and a sweet little infant survive her together with her parents, brothers and sisters. The sympathy of the entire community is extended the bereaved husband and relations in this their sad hour of affliction. The remains of Mrs. Williams were interred in the cemetery at the Methodist church in this place.
She died on December 14, 1896

Saturday morning, the 16th instant, at 1:30 o'clock, Mr. Willie T. Williams died at his home about three miles southeast of Gibson, after an illness of a few days duration. Mr. Williams was recognized as a good man and citizen, and was held in high esteem by every one who knew him. He was a farmer and industrious in his pursuit of happiness on his farm. The deceased was more than 72 years of age at the time of his death. He was a faithful and consistent member of the Fellowship Baptist church in this county. The deceased is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. A. H. Sammons of Glascock county; Mrs. J. H. Hinton, of McDuffie county, and Mrs. D. H. Perdue, of Glascock county, and several grand-children. Funeral services were conducted over the remains of the deceased by Rev. W. W. Glover, burial being in the Fellowship church cemetery. Mr. Henry W Williamson, a well-known citizen of Glascock County, and a prosperous farmer, committed suicide at his home near Blankenship's mill, Thursday morning, Dec 1st, by shooting himself in the head with a rifle, death resulting almost instantly. Mr. Williams gave no intimation whatever to his wife, who was present at the home when he committed the act, of his intention to take his life. He killed himself at the rear of the cook room in his yard. Mr. Williamson had been in failing health for some months past, and that is the only reason assigned why he commiteed the rash act of taking his own life. So far as known by the writer the deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. H. W. Williamson, and one daughter, Mrs. J. W. Raley, all of Glascock County. The remains of the deceased were laid in their last resting place in the Magnolia church cemetery Friday afternoon. The Record extends its condolence to the sorrowing relatives. Gibson Record Dec 19??
