Vital records of births and deaths are kept by government offices. Statewide registration of births and deaths began January 1, 1919 in Georgia. Sometimes cities and counties kept birth and death records before the state began a record keeping system. The cost is $10 and additional copies of same record ordered at same time are $5.00 each.
