GEORGIA, HANCOCK COUNTY
This Indenture made this twenty seventh day of December one Thousand Eight hundred and Seventeen, between John Berry of the one part and Thomas W. Edwards of the other part, both of the County and State aforesaid. Witnesseth, that the said John Berry for and in consideration of the sum of Five hundred and thirty dollars to him in hand paid at & before the sealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold & by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Thomas W. Edwards ( all that tract or parcel of land, situate, lying & being in the County aforesaid on the head waters of Buffalow, containing fifty three & three fourth acres, Butting and bounding as follows, viz, Beginning at a Hickory Corner and running S. 32 E. 19 chains 67 links to a Black Oak Corner & thence N. 5 E. 8 chains & 40 links to a B. Oak Corner, thence N. 15 W. 19 chains 50 links to a P. Oak Corner, thence N.75. E.5 chains to a sweet gum Corner, thence n. 30 W. 29 chains to a pine Corner, thence S. 16. W. 29 chains to a Stake Corner, thence S. 32. E. 5 chains to the beginning Hickory Corner, being part of the Tract of Land originally granted to John Dannelly and lately sold to said Jno. Berry by Francis Biggam, adjoining lands of Hugh Taylor, Sr., Binion and said Thos W. Edwards) Together with all & singular the rights, members & appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining, to have & to hold the same to him his Heirs forever in fee simple, and the said John Berry will warrant and forever defend the aforesaid tract of Land unto the said Thomas W. Edwards his heirs, assigns against the claim or claims of all & every person or persons whatsoever firmly by these presents. In testimony whereof the said John Berry hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day & date above written.
