This Indenture made the fourth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty, between John Berry of the State of Georgia and County of Hancock of the one part and Robert W. Alston of the same State and County of the other part. Witnesseth what the said John Berry for and in consideration of the sum of thirteen hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Robert W. Alston at or before the signing and delivering of these presents, the receipt thereof hereby acknowledged have bargained, sold , released and confirmed and by these presents doth bargain, sell, release and confirm unto the said Robert W. Alston his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and thirty two and three fourth acres, situate in the State and County aforesaid on the waters of Buffaloe, Bounded by Hugh Taylor, Abercrombie’s, Godwins, and the said Alston’s Lands, beginning at a Post oak Corner on a branch and running (to a Sassafras Corner, extend South seventy chains East twenty chains)(inserted between lines) South seventy degrees East twenty chains to a black Jack Corner, thence South eighty West eleven chas. Eighty one links to a Stake Corner on the road, thence South five East Seven chas. along the road to a stake Corner, thence South sixty five West fourteen chains twenty seven links to a Stake Corner on Abercrombies line, thence North Sixty West-along said line thirty four chas. forty-three links to a Stake Corner, thence North thirty East twenty five chas. twenty five links to a water oak Corner near the aforesaid branch, thence up the meander of said branch to the beginning, together with all and singular the rights, members and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said tract of land and premises to the only use benefit and behoof of him the said Robert W. Alston his heirs and assigns to have and to hold, forever in fee simple, and the said John Berry for himself and his heirs the said tract of land and premises to the said Robert W. Alston his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents from himself, his heirs and from all and every other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said John Berry hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written.
