was born in Sparta, Georgia in 1919. He quit school at age 17
to play baseball with the Atlanta Black Crackers in 1936.

Negro League baseball player 1938-1955. Shortstop for the Atlanta Black Crackers, Indianapolis ABCs, Baltimore Elite Giants, Birmingham Black Barons and the Memphis Red Sox. Played in 8 East-West Games. In 1951, he left the Negro League and played in the Manitoba-Dakota League. He returned to the Negro League in 1953.
