The State of Georgia began keeping death certificates in 1919. These records for Deaths in Haralson County have been taken from the microfiche of the State Death Index
which includes deaths in all counties . Please keep in mind that many families still prepared and buried their own dead and no certificate was made.

Please note the Index shows county of Death.  If a Haralson Co. resident died in another County, the name would be in that County. Beginning with the year 1946, the form changed in that it shows "County of Death" and "County of Residence".  In some cases, the County of Death shows other county or even other states;  for instance, "County of Death"-ALA., and "County of Residence", Haralson.  Where the "County of Death" is not Haralson, it is shown in the appropriate column. A blank in these columns indicates "Haralson".

The State of Georgia Virtual Vault now includes copies of the death certificates to 1927 and non-indexed certificates 1928-1930 .   You can search by name, last name or county.  Another source is familysearch.org.

Death certificates could provide alot of information or may provide very little.  May give date of birth, birth place, parents names, cemetery, undertaker, informant (may give good clues to unknown relatives).

The Death Index here is from 1919 to 1959.
