Roberts | April Term 1881 Personally appeared before the undersigned Marion C Roberts, who being Sworn Says he is the Plaintiff in the above Stated Case and That Sarah C Roberts the Defendant and Wife of Deponent has as deponent believes left the State, that when deponent last heard of her She was in the State of Alabama & that her present whereabouts is unknown to Defendant, but he believes She is Still in the State of Alabama. The Petition of Marion C Roberts of Said County and State Respectfully Showeth that on the 2nd day of May Eighteen hundred and Seventy Five Your petitioner & Sarah C Long of Said County then a Single woman, were married in due form of Law to wit in Said County. The good name and virtuous demeanor of Said Sarah C. and the respectability of her family were considerations which forbade any expectation of her recent improper and bad conduct. Your Petitioner ---------------------------------------------- and his Said wife lived together until about the last day of July Eighteen hundred and Seventy Six When the Said Sarah C. without any just Cause deserted your petitioner and has never Since lived with him, and has gone to parts unknown to your petitioner Your petitioner avers that he was ever Kind and affectionate to his Said wife and that She never had Cause to Complain of your petitioner. Your petitioner Strove all the time to render his Said wife Comfortable and hapy and hoped that he would have the Confidence, Comfort, and undivided affec -tions of his Said wife, but forgetful of her obligations and duties, She deserted your petitioner as aforesaid. Wherefore your petitioner prays that citation may issue directing and requiring the Said Sarah C. Roberts wife of your petitioner to be and appear personally or by attorney at the next Superior Court to be held in and for Said County then and there to Show Cause if any She can why Said marriage entered into as aforesaid Should not be annuled Set aside and made Void for the causes aforesaid and a divource a vinculo Matrimonii be pronounced be -tween your petitioner and his Said wife Your petitioner further Shows that they had no Child or Children born unto them and that they had no property.
