Dear Jack,
We were disappointed in not hearing from you yesterday. We have had l letter from you since you rote the 2. M. Mayes was over yesturday. We heard from you an Frank through your letter to her. She rote to Frank an left the letter for me to have mailed. It was to late for me to rite last night. I dont think it will be any harm for me to write a few lines to you today.
It is a beautiful day, warm an sunny. They ar all gone to church. Did not feel able to go. We have had good rains in the week. Every thing is growing finely. Mary is out at her grandma. Mother is better.
They have just come from church. Father, McAlister, an Mr. Paxton ar with them. How we all miss you, an particular on Sunday an at meal time. I must stop for dinner.
Jimmy Quillin has brought word from your camp that you ar all dissatisfied with your capt. We were all very sorry to hear it. I think he is a good man an better qualified to take care of you than any one else that you could have got in this country. If these reports are true, I am sorry for Joe(?) I think all that persuaded him to come back an make up the co. ought to stand up for him through think an thin. I am afraid he is not strict enough. I hope he will not suffer drinking an gambling in his company as it is in other co. there.
Your uncle thinks there ar few that are dissatisfied about office, not being where they want to be. Many things will be different from what you expected them to be. I hope you an Frank ar doing right. I think an him can bear more than the others.
