...the box some time this week. I am knitting some nice socks for some of the officers. I suppose you want me to send 1 or 2 pair to Col.(?) Phillip. give me the names of 1 or 2 others of the Legion that you like for me to send a couple of pair to. I will send them when I send your clothes. I know you ar needing pants. Do you want a white shirt. You must be careful about having your flannel an socks wash. If you dont they will be so small after a few times washing you cant wear them. Have them washed in hot soap suds an rinsed out of clen suds. If you put them in cold water they will get hard. Washed in the way I have told you they will be soft as long as they will last. I believe I rote you once before about your washing.
Sunday night. Mary Mayes an Fanny Nicely ar here to night. The friends ar all well. Father and Mother ar tolerable well. They talk a great deal about you all. Your uncle Henley's folks ar all well. I suppose Archy an his ar getting along as common.
We had a letter from your uncle Pat last Friday. He is going to move near Nashville. Says the Lincolnites ar to thick about Cleveland for him. I understand that McAfee is going to send for ???? to go to Virginia. It is said that Bessy(?) is going to see the widow.
Monday morning the 23. All well. Almost cold enough for frost this morning. I will rite to you once a week at the least, perhaps oftener. As you say the time seems long between the letters. Say to Frank that Mary will rite to him today. Rite often. Take care of your self. May the blessing of heaven rest upon you all.
