RAILROAD MEETINGIn pursuance of a previous notice, a respectable portion of the citizens of Lumpkin county met at the Court house on Tuesday, to take into consideration the joining the citizens of Forsyth county in a Railroad meeting at Warsaw the 17th inst.
On motion, Dr. J.J. Singleton was called to the chair, and James H. Worley requested to act as secretary.
The following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted:
Whereas the citizens of Warsaw friendly to the enterprise of a Railroad from Dahlonega via Cumming to some point on the State, or Georgia Railroad have extended an invitation to all interested in the enterprise to join them on the 17th inst., in a public meeting and to partake of the hospitalities of a barbecue prepared by her citizens and adopt such means as will expedite said enterprise. Therefore,
Resolved, That the chair appoint a suitable committee to represent the county of Lumpkin on that occasion. Whereupon the chair appointed the following named persons to compose said committee:

On motion ordered that Dr. J J Singleton be added to said committee.
Further Resolved, That every citizen in Lumpkin county who can conveniently attend said meeting be requested to do so.
Resolved, that a committee of three be appointed by the Chair to confer with the citizens of Forsyth upon the propriety of giving a Railroad barbeque at some place on or near the line of the two counties at a day to be agreed upon hereafter. When the chair appointed Col H W Riley, Maj. Alfred Harris and Jas R Lawhon, Esq., to form said committee.
