Georgians Lost on the Independence

Among the passengers lost on board the steamer Independence, we notice the names of the following: Mrs. Martha Lackey, and Judge David Nichols of this place, and Mrs Ayres and child of Marietta. Mrs. Lackey and Mrs Ayres were both on their way to California to meet their husbands. Mrs. Lackey and Judge Nichols left many friends and relations in this county to mourn their loss. For particulars we would refer our readers to the letter of our freind Matthew McDonald, as well as the statement given by the Captain.
