William H.C. Tate was born in 1852 in Georgia, as was his
wife Caroline. They were married in 1870. In 1880 they
lived in Mossy Creek District of White County, Georgia, with
children James (7), Willis (5) and Martha (1).
William H.C. Tate was Postmaster of Lumpkin County from at
least 1908 to 1910.
After James E. Tate's death, Caroline took the hotel over.
