Wilson J. and Letty C. Pierce - cir. 1890

      Wilson Jasper Pierce was born June 4, 1842 in Hall County, GA, the son of Wilson and Nancy (Barton) Pierce. &His parents moved to Lumpkin Co. sometime before 1850 to the area just south of what is now Camp Wahsega.  This is where Wilson J. was raised, and spent the next 40 or more years.  He married in Lumpkin County on August 18, 1859 to Letty Caroline Roberts.  Letty was born October 9, 1843 in Union County, GA, the daughter of Rev. Miles M. and Sarah (Jones) Roberts.  Her family moved to Lumpkin Co. in 1856.
      Wilson J. and Letty had eleven children, all born in Lumpkin County.  They were members of Hightower Baptist Church and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Davis/Hightower District.  Wilson J. owned several lots along Hightower Church Road, north of what is now Miles Berry Road.  In the 1890s, the family moved to Gwinnett County.  By 1920, Wilson J. and Letty were living with their son Harvey in Warren County, GA.   Wilson Jasper died January 23, 1924 and Letty died February 9, 1926, both in Warren County.  Their remains were later moved to the old city cemetery in Buford, Gwinnett County, GA.
