JIM SHEFFIELD (TEXAS COUSIN)

This picture was found among family pictures when my great-grandmother (Gertrude Ester Rentz Jordan) passed away.

Written on the back of the picture:  "Jim Sheffield cousin from Texas"

My guess is that this picture is of someone in the J A J Sheffield Family from Texas.  Joseph Andrew Jackson Sheffield (J. A. J.) was born February 3, 1837 in Early County, Ga. and died October 5, 1920 in Jasper County, TX. He married Rebecca E. Roberts.  J. A. J. Sheffield was the son of Isham R. Sheffield and Martha R. Lane.

The nickname "Jim" is often used for the given name James.  J. A. J. Sheffield & Rebecca Roberts had a son named James J. Sheffield.  Is it possible the picture is of James J. Sheffield?
