Unidentified Sheffield Brothers Family
Written on back of photograph: Brothers of Elizabeth Sarah Jane Sheffield.
These two gentlemen are sons of Isham R. Sheffield and Martha R. Lane. Isham R. Sheffield was the son of
Isham Sheffield and Elizabeth Jane Roberts. Isham R. Sheffield was born March 5, 1815 in Miller County, Ga.
and died August 30, 1884 in Miller County, Ga. He married Martha R. Lane June 6, 1833 in Early County, Ga.
Martha R. Lane was born February 22, 1819 in Miller County, Ga. and died March 4, 1901 in Miller County, Ga.
Martha was the daughter of Joseph Lane and Sarah Rice.
Sons of Isham R. Sheffield and Martha R. Lane:
(1) Isham O. Sheffield was born June 8, 1834 in Early County, Ga. and died November 14, 1885 in Miller County, Ga.
He married Mary Roberts.
(2) Joseph Andrew Jackson Sheffield was born February 3, 1837 in Early County, Ga. and died October 5, 1920 in
Jasper County, TX. He married Rebecca E. Roberts.
(3) Edmund H. Sheffield was born February 26, 1839 in Early County, Ga. and died January 8, 1849.
Edmund died at ten years of age.
(4) Augustus L. Sheffield was born August 16, 1841 in Early County, Ga. He married Nancy Bush.
(5) Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Sheffield was born January 2, 1843 in Colquitt, Miller County, Ga. and died about 1931.
He married Sarah E. "Sallie" Lane.
(6) Benjamin Bennet Benton Sheffield was born March 1, 1844 in Early County, Ga. and died September 29, 1846.
He was two and one-half years of age when he died.
(7) Madison B.L. Sheffield was born January 5, 1850 in Early County, Ga. HJe married Roxey Harris.
(8) John Thomas Sheffield was born February 25, 1852 in Early County, Ga. and died August 29, 1874.
He married Louisa "Lou" Rooks.
This picture was among family photographs belonging to Gertrude "Gertie" Ester Rentz Jordan when she passed away.
Gertrude's mother was Elizabeth Sarah Jane Sheffield Rentz.
