Beloved Dallas Lady Celebrates
95th Birthday Sunday, March 1
Mrs. Sarah Etta Spinks celebrated her
95th birthday on Sunday, March 1, 1981 at her home on Main Street in
Dallas.
Born in 1886 in Paulding County, daughter of John Marion
Tant and Matilda Ann Lankford Tant, she was the oldest of 13 children.
Only one sister, the youngest, Mrs. John (Ora) Teal, 80 years of age, is
living. She spent the day with Mrs. Etta on Sunday.
Mrs. Etta married
J. Tom Spinks in 1924. Mr. Spinks was Tax Receiver of Paulding County.
They lived in the New Hope Community for several years then moved to
town, where Mr. Spinks was Clerk in the office of Ordinary until his
death in 1946. Mrs. Etta was employed at Dallas Hosiery Mill for many
years. She has 4 stepchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who love
her dearly.
“Aunt Etta”, as she is affectionately called, is in good
health except her eyesight is not as good. She is very alert and enjoys
cooking and piecing quilts.
Those coming by to wish Mrs. Etta “Happy

Edna Parker, Mrs. Alma Camp, Mrs. Nettie Lou Crowe, Joe Parker, Jack and
Billie Camp, Glenda Baxter and Terry Moon, all of Dallas; Frances Moon,
Dianne Moon and Mrs. U. V. Harris, all of Hiram; Jack and Bobby Tant,
Linda and Shiloh Donaldson , Ray and Maude McMichen, all of Atlanta;
Mrs. Noah Tant (sister-in-law) of Lake Talmadge and Mrs. Flossie Plemons
of Acworth; Mrs. Annette Brooks of Austell and J. C. and Maggie Purser
of Smyrna.
Mrs. Etta thanks all her relatives and friends for the
visits and gifts.
