Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, Blackshear Organized ca 1833 in what was Ware County, the oldest church in Pierce County. The present church was built in 1927.
The cemetery is also the oldest in Pierce County with the oldest identified grave being that of Samuel Sweat who was a son of a Revolutionary soldier and was buried in 1849.
Another Revolutionary soldier is buried at that cemetery and that is Isham Peacock (1741-1852). He was also a Primitive Baptist preacher. There are over 1,000 people buried at Shiloh. |
