McKey, William Harrison 1st Lieutenant July 8, 1861 Wounded at Malvern Hill, Virginia July 1, 1862. Elected Captain September 17, 1862. On January 20, 1863, he sent certificate which showed his recovery doubtful. On January 14, 1864, examining board reported that Captain W. H. McKey was absent until latter part of March 1863, on account of wounds and was permanently disqualified for field service on account of dyspepsia and long illness, and recommended that he be honorably retired without pay. Recommendation was approved by General R. E. Lee and President Davis and it was ordered that he be retired on June 3, 1864. Roll dated June 23, 1865, shows he was paroled at Gordonville, Virginia, date not stated.
