          Taunton - Thomas Drewery Ellis Sr., of Taunton, died Dept. 9, 2003 at Morton Hospital and Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 79,

          He was the former husband of Frances (Ellis) Ellis.

          He was born in Griffin Ga. and was a graduate of Ga. Tech.

          Mr. Ellis was an engineer and worked at the George Washington University Medical Collage for 27 years in Washington D.C. He lived in Washington D.C. for many years. He also lived in Taunton for six years.

          He was an active in the Cherry Dale Baptist Church in Arlington Va. He also was a member at the Winthrop Street Baptist Church in Taunton.

          He enjoyed reading the Bible and astronomy He also was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and received the American Area Medal. The Asiatic Pacific Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Victory Medal.

          He is survived by one son, Thomas Ellis Jr., of Tauton: one daughter Shelley Ellis of North Carolina: two sisters, Clovis Nelson of Chicago and Daisy Ellis of Kentucky: two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

         His funeral will be tomorrow at noon at the Taunton Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne Ma. Donations to his name may be mailed to the Winthrop Street Baptist Church, 39 Winthrop St. Taunton 62726.
