Last Rites Held Here For A. J. BARFIELD
Last rites for Mr. Albert J. BARFIELD, age 50, who died Friday, October 15 at
the Veterans Hospital in Outwood, Ky., was held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m., at
Snow Ridge Cemetery with Rev. P. L. BRANCH in charge. Mr. and Mrs. J. D.
SPIRES, Mrs. W. R. GREEN, Mrs. O. L. HOBBY, Mrs. Webb ZORN, Mrs. G. B. SOUTHWELL,
Mr. W. F. REYNOLDS sang "Asleep in Jesus," and "Sometime We'll Understand."
Taps was given by Royce HOBBY at the close of the services.
Pallbearers wer the following American Legion members: Messrs. R. H. GREEN, O.
L. BURCH, J. A. HUFF, Arthur GAMARRAS, John BAILEY and Waters BELL.
Survivors are the following four brothers: Mr. G. B. BARFIELD, Mr. A. H.
BARFIELD of Ashburn, Mr. Lee BARFIELD of McRae, Mr. C. M. BARFIELD of
Jacksonville, Fla., and four sisters, Mrs. Lillie PASSMORE of Macon, Miss Eula
BARFIELD of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. M. E. SAUCER of Miami, Fla., and Mrs.
Minnie HOLCOMB of Warwick.
Mr. BARFIELD was born in Dooly County, coming to Turner County in 1917 with his
parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. C. M. BARFIELD. He was a World War veteran and a
member of the American Legion. He was engaged in farming at the old home
place when his health failed. July 28 he went to the Veterans Hospital at Lake
City, Fla., and later in August was sent to the Veterans Hospital at Outwood,
