APPLICATION FOR THE RELIEF OF CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS AND SAILORS.
THE STATE OF ALABAMA, WINSTON COUNTY;
To the Honorabe Board of Pension Examiners for said County: Your petitioner, W.D.K. Taley, respectfully represents to your honorable board that he is a resident citizen of Winston County, in the State of Alabama, and that he resided in said State on the first day of January in the year 1899. That he enlisted in the service of the State, or Confederate States, as a PRIVATE in company K in the 5th Ga Regiment on the 4th day of March 1862 at Thomaston in the State of Ga., and that he was honorably discharged from such service on/about the 10th day April 1865, that he did not desert the service of the Confederate States, or of the State of Alabama; That he was wounded at the battle of Chicamuga in the State of Ga.; That he is now unable to make a living by manual labor on account of age & Gen. Disability; That he is at the time of filing this application 61 years of age, and that his postoffice address is Houston Alabama; That he does not own property either in his own name, nor that of his wife, to the value of four hundred ($400) dollars; that is annual income does not exceed four hundred ($400) dollars, and that he has no children upon whom he can depend for support. Your petitioner files herewith a complete schedule of all the property owned by himself and wife. In consideration of the foregoing facts, your petitioner asks that his name be placed upon the pension rolls, in the class that your honorable board may adjudge him to belong, that he may participate in the division of the fund provided for the relief of Confederate and Alabama soldiers and their widows, by act of the General Assembly approved February 10, 1899.

THOMAS, Daniel D.
He was born September 16, 1840 in Lowndes Co., GA and died November 25, 1924 in Alachua Co., FL. He enlisted as a private, in Co. B, 1st Florida Cavalry Regiment on October 15, 1861 in Sanderson, FL. Company B and several other companies were dismounted in the spring of 1862 and served the balance of the war as infantry. He was wounded at Chickamauga, GA on September 19, 1863 and wounded again at Dallas, GA on May 29, 1864. He was captured on July 22, 1864 at the Battle of Atlanta, GA and imprison in Camp Douglas, IL until the end of the War. He married Mary J. McKinney. Daniel and Mary J. Thomas are buried at New Hope Cem., Alachua Co., FL

THOMAS, Eli
He was born 1844 in Lowndes Co., GA and died June 06, 1876 in Nassau Co., FL (buried unknown). He enlisted as a private, in Co. B, 1st Florida Cavalry Regiment on October 15, 1861 in Sanderson, FL. Company B and several other companies were dismounted in the spring of 1862 and served the balance of the war as infantry. On March 19, 1865, his final military entry was with Co. I, 1st Regiment Florida Infantry (Consolidated). Eli was present for duty when the Army of Tennessee surrendered at Durham Station, NC on April 26, 1865. He was paroled on May 01, 1865 at Greensboro, NC. He married Lavinia (Viney) Fouraker abt. 1866. Lavinia (Viney) Thomas is buried in Brandy Branch Cemetery, Nassau Co., FL.

THOMAS, Riley T. (R.T.)
He was born on April 05, 1846 in Lowndes Co., GA and died June 06, 1925 in Charlton Co., GA. He enlisted as a Private, in Co. B, 1st Florida Cavalry Regiment on April 05, 1863. On May 31, 1864 he entered the hospital with chronic diarrhea and later was sent home (Charlton Co., GA) to recovery. He was still at home recovering when the Army of Tennessee surrendered at Durham Station, NC on April 26, 1865. He married Emily Thomas (a cousin). Riley and Emily Thomas are buried in Mill Creek Cem., Nassau Co., FL.

TURNER, Kenyon (Kinion)
Born 14 Apr 1832 Fayette County, Ga.
Died 16 Sep 1901 Fayette County, Ga.
He is buried in the Friendship UMC on Hwy. 314 in Fayette County. He was a charter member of this church. He married Sarah Ann Black May 01, 1850 in Fayette County. He moved with his family to Polk Co Georgia and joined the 20th Georgia Volunteer Inf., Co D with his brother, Andrew and George.
Kenyon was seriously wounded in the retreat from Gettysburg, in the Potomac River, when his horse fell on him. Brother George was killed in this battle. The 20th Ga was assigned to Benning's Brigade for this battle and very engaged in the heat of the battle. He served until the surrender at the hospital at Emory Virginia, unable to return to the field.
Although his surviving family moved on to Randolph Co Ala, Kinion and his family returned to their home in Fayette County, where he was able to work as a mechanic and farmer for several years before he applied for a Confederate pension. Sarah Ann outlived Kinion by almost 20 years, dying Feb. 29 1920, at the home of their youngest child, James Boswell Turner.
