James Monroe Gresham (24 Dec 1840 – 8 Jul 1913) was the son of William Gresham and Mary Eleanor Stroud. His tombstone notes that he served as a First Lieutenant of the CSA Co H, 42nd Regiment Infantry ("Walton County Tigers") enlisting on 4 March 1862. He was a prisoner at Johnson's Island, Ohio and was released on oath on or after 9 Apr 1865; final date 16 Jun 1865.
James Monroe Gresham married Martha Catherine Atkinson on 14 Nov 1865 in Morgan County, Georgia.
James Monroe Gresham's second wife was Susan R. Kilgore who was the widow of William Marcus Jackson Kilgore. She is buried in Rest Haven Cemetery in Walton County.
