Questions have remained from researchers over the years as to what relation Edmond Briscoe was to John Gresham, Sr, the following information
answers that question:
The answer was brought to my attention by Ms. Annette Wade, a Gresham descendant, from a page located on ancestry.com
submitted by Caroline Luck, transcribed from a bio by Mary Adeline Biscoe Hillyer, sister of Edmond K. Briscoe (Biscoe).
I have not copied all of the information from this bio, only some of the highlights. If anyone wants to see more they should go to ancestry.com and
search the family history of Alexander Hamilton Biscoe for more information.
Here is the "short" version of this bio: Allexander Hamilton Briscoe was born Sept 10, 1814. He, his mother and two sisters moved to Walton County when his sister, Mary Adeline Briscoe Hillyer married and made her home in Monroe. At the age of 20, A. H. Briscoe married Caroline Penina Gresham. A. H. was, among other things, a ship's captain and finally a seller of goods and a trader settling in Mississippi.
They had 4 children, a daughter and 3 sons. The oldest, Edmund K., while visiting his mother's home in Walton County, died on the 23rd of April 1843 at the age of 3 and was buried next to his great grandfather on land belonging to Caroline's relatives on their land in Walton County, on what is now H. D. Atha Road.
