Surnames: Brantley, Phelps (Philips) and Radford
Peggy Milton ( p.milton@morrisbb.net ) is researching these surnames. Joshua Brantley (1778-1854). She would like to know who Joshua's parents were. His birthplace is thought to have been Chatham Co, NC. He lived first in Morgan County, Georgia (1800) and married Nancy Phillips (or Phelps) and then Temperance Radford in 1809. He owned property in Walton county from around 1820 until his death in 1854. He served in the War of 1812. She has located a legal notice from November 1854 issue of the Southern Banner in Athens, Ga. Levi G., was executor (his son) who filed a notice to sell Joshua's property of 900 acres and he states his residence was Walton County. She would like to locate obits and know who might have purchased the Joshua's property. Since she is not local to Walton County, she would like to possibly hire someone to do local research for her. Please contact Peggy if you have information or are willing to assist her in her research.
