THOMAS PRESTON, JR.
Thomas Preston, Jr. was the son of Thomas Preston Sr. and Mary Walker Preston. He was the second son and fourth child and was born in 1754 in Brunswick Co, Virginia and died April 11, 1836 in Walton County, Georgia. He is buried at the Preston Cemetery in Good Hope, Walton County, Georgia. He married in 1790 Mary Harrison born 1762 and died Oct 30, 1843, also buried in the Preston Cemetery.
Thomas Preston Jr. served in a Cavalry Company of young men which constituted a body guard of Gen George Washington, who was present at Yorktown at the time of the surrender of Cornwallis. After the war he moved to Georgia and was given land grant under John Clarke as Governor, Lot 86, 250 acres in Walton County. He has two sons, William Hulon Preston born 1802 and Archibald Preston, born 1794. (Source, Roster of Revolutionary Soldiers in Georgia, Vol. II.)
