Interested in contacting anyone/everyone who can tell me
something about a William M. DAVIS who was born in Warren Co. on
Jan1,1833. In the 1850 census for Warren Co. he was living in a
Daniel DENNIS household. A few years later he married a Mahaley
THOMPSON and they lived in Warren Co. and had 7 children all
DAVIS. Sometime during or shortly after 1871 William left Mahaley
and children (only she and children appear in census after 1870).
William supposedly remarried a lady by name of Alice Rebecca
ELLIOTT (can't prove her first or last name; know she went by
name of Rebecca; do not know birthdate of her or death date but
figure she died before 1900). William Davis is my great
grandfather and Rebecca is my great grandmother. (Beginning to
wonder how this lady disappearred!!) Also, would like to know
William's parents names and of course anything on Alice Rebecca
ELLIOTT and her family origin (not sure that this is how her last
name is spelled so any spelling of this surname might be
helpful.) Does anyone know anything about any of these people??
Please e-mail me and I will be willing to share info on children
born from both marriages ( have names of all) and anything else I
have. I believe that someone out there has to know something that
will be helpful . Thank you. We are a standstill on these
relatives!!

The parents of my greatgrandfather, Hilman WILLIAMS, have long
been a mystery. All I know is they were John and Mary WILLIAMS of
Newsom's Dist., Warren County GA. John was born c1765 in NC and
Mary was born c1790 in GA or NC. John died c1840, leaving Mary
with seven children. They were: Elizabeth b 1817, John B b 1821,
Hilman b 1822 or 1823, Rufus b 1825, Marcus b 1827,, Cusy (Cuzza)
b 1830, and Dewitt C. b 1832. Elizabeth married Frances Marion
NUNN October 9, 1836 in Warren County. His parents were Nimrod
NUNN and Rachel MCGLAMERY.. Elizabeth died in Bastrop County,
Texas, 1886. Their children were Marian Cuzza NUNN, Sarah Ann
Elizabeth NUNN, John Nimrod NUNN, Samuel Abbott NUNN, and Rachel
Jones NUNN. Cusy (Cuzza) WILLIAMS married Alexander MCCULLERS.
Hilman WILLIAMS graduated from Mercer University 1848 and married
Sarah Elizabeth MELL from Liberty County, GA in 1849 Her parents
were Major Benjamin MELL and Cynthia SUMNER. However, it is John
and Mary WILLIAMS who are subjects of my search. Who were their
ancestors, when and where?

Seeking information on John GIBSON, who according to DAR, was son
of Gideon GIBSON; but can not verify this. DAR also states that
John married Fannie FLEWELLYN in 1779; but it was probably John
Jr. who married Fanny FLUELLEN Feb. 22, 1800. It seems strange
that two John Gibsons(father & son married two Fanny
Fluellens). Since John's daughter, Sarah married in 1793, she
would had to been born before 1779 - as well as John Jr. and
Nancy. So John must have been married around 1773-4, and must
have been born around 1750 instead of 1759. Does anyone have any
info and sources about John and his family; and also does anyone
know of copies of the old GIBSON Family Bible in Georgia. Would
appreciate any info on John.

Looking for a HUGH REESE - ABNER LOCKETT connection! I have been
trying to determine if one of my ancestors married a Reese. Here
are the facts that I have: 1. ABNER LOCKETT moved to
Wilkes/Warren county, Ga. from Virginia in 1785 along with his
parents & siblings. 2. Around 1785 HUGH REESE moved to
Wilkes/Warren county, Ga. from Virginia. 3. In 1805 ABNER LOCKETT
participated in a land lottery in Hancock county, Ga. He was
married at this time. 4. Any documents which list Abner's wife,
including his will, refer to her as PATSY (no maiden name). 5.
One of Abner & Patsy's sons was named HUGH REESE LOCKETT.
Following this group of facts leads one to assume that Patsy
(maybe a nickname for Martha) was a member of Hugh Reese's
family, but I have been unsuccessful in finding out anything
about Hugh Reese's children or grandchildren.

DAVIS. Sometime during or shortly after 1871 William left Mahaley

She married George W. KELLUM, b. 16 May 1816, on 27 Mar 1838.
They lived in the 22nd District of Talbot, Co. GA, around 1830
and had 11 children. Later they would move to Rough Edge (904th
dist.). Would also like to know about George KELLUM's parents.
There was an Archibald and another George KELLUM that seemed to
moved with each other through Warren Co., and to Talbot Co. They
could have been brothers as census has their children children
listed about the same ages with Archibald 's children being older
, I think George W. KELLUM came from Archibald. Martha KELLUM, I

In 1794
when Warren became a county taking a part of Wilkes County there
was a Capt'n Campbell's district. Included in this district was a
John Campbell who owned 150 acres of land and a James Campbell
who owned 50 acres of land that I guess John had sold or gave to
James, as John Campbell stared with 200 acres. This land was
located on Williams Creek. Could you tell me what happen to this
land? Also were the heads of the Districts former Rev. Soldiers?
Would Capt. Campbell have served in the service?

I've done
serious researching in Warren Co over the past several years. Now
seem to be reduced to plotting out the deeds either purchased or
grants. Know most of them are in Wilkes Co but wanted to know if
Warren Co had such a map of original land owners. Joseph Burson,
his sons Jonathan and Isaac were granted land in 1784/85 and I do
have the plats of their lands. Joseph and Jonathan both died in
1901. Joseph left a will giving the given names of his daughters
only and Jonathan died intestate and have not been able to find
any annual returns for him. So--I'm trying to plot out the deeds
to see who received the land in order to find these children.

Do
guardianship/orphan records still exist for Warren county for
180x - 1820 time frame? I am looking for anything that would
identify the orphans of Joseph HARVILL who died c1803-04. The
fact that he left children is clear from his mother's 1804 Warren
county will (Margaret Harwell/Harvill Holliday) which mentions
her "son Joseph's children", and the 1807 lottery which
identifies "Orphans of Joseph Harvill" of Warren
County, Deveraux's district, as winning Wilkinson county lot 93
dist.13 in the 1807 lottery. I believe the family moved from
Warren to WIlkinson prior to 1820, but that's part of the puzzle
I'm trying to prove. Would be most appreciative of any ideas or
information you may be able to offer in identifying these
children.

Judson Work
Eldredge and Martha Jane Hampton of Milton County, Ga must have
had a very hard life, juding from what little I have been able to
piece together, the bare facts of which point to a sad but
typical Reconstruction era story. I'll tell you what I know, and
hopefully, you may be able to help with what I don't know.
Judson was born in 1855 in Sparta, Warren County, Ga (near Milledgeville), the son of a factory worker, Olney Eldredge (1807 - 1879), and Mary Flagg (1816-1859). Judson's parents had immigrated (migrated?) from Massachusetts to Georgia sometime between 1846 and 1851. His mother, Mary, died in Warren County in 1859 when the boy was 3 or 4.
Judson must have been about 9 or 10 years old when Union forces drove through Georgia, and I lose his story and that of his father and his sisters after the 1860 Census (Warren County, McCrary District, Blny Eldridge (sic)) until I see him again when he marries, in 1878, Martha Jane Hampton of Milton County.
What happened in that boy's life, I wonder? And what happened to old Olney and to Judson's sisters, Mary and Martha, who as teenagers, I assume, raised Judson after his mother died? Maybe the Hamptons or the Braswells of Milton County know. Maybe the folks in Warren County know.
Martha Jame Hampton, the daughter of George W. Hampton (1826 - ?)and Mary E. Braswell(1833 - 1883), was born in Milton County. That's about all I know about her family. Judson and Martha were married in 1878 and had seven children, four of whom were born in Roswell, Ga during the 1880's.
Sometime between 1887 and 1891 Judson and Martha pulled up stakes. I think they may have moved to Atlanta and after a brief stay moved to Langley, S.C. where Judson died in 1894 at age 38, leaving Martha alone to care for four young children.
It is my understanding that Martha remarried with a man named Wade and that she lived until 1928. Although she died in Hapeville, Ga, I'm told she is buried near her mother, Mary E. Braswell, in Roswell.
Judson and Martha had 4 children who survived childhood:
James Olney b. Feb 1881 - Roswell, Ga m. Ola Yancey -
d. June 21, 1941 - Greenwood Cemetary, Atl.
William Judson b. July 6, 1887 - Roswell m. Emma Alma
Binns - Dec 6, 1914 d. June 2, 1948 - GreenwoodCemetary, Alt.
Marian Flagg b. Dec. 28, 1889 - Atlanta m. Annie Leola
Morris - Dec. 9, 1917 d. June 20, 1946 -
Judson Work b. Feb 8, 1893 - South Carolina m. Laura
Johnson - Sept 15, 1917 d. Aug. 13, 1970 - Westview Cemetary,
Atl.
If you have any information about Judson and Martha, their parents, their children or their relatives please let me know. Thank you for your time and interest.

this query, would you please do so. It was put in by a Mrs.
Seebach whom I contacted in 1982. She said she no longer did
genealogy, and couldn't help me. "STONE, DARDEN, PERKINS,
CHAPMAN: Micajah STONE had a land-grant on Williams Creek in
Warren County in 1792. He died 1804 and his estate was
admininstered by his widow, Mary, who died in 1823. Their
children were Sally, NANCY, Patsy or Martha (b 4 Mar 1796 married
Jonathan DARDEN, son of Jethro and Ellender PERKINS DARDEN);
William, Rebecca, Polly (who m Robert CHAPMAN) and Elizabeth who
m Amprose CHAPMAN. Who were the parents of Micajah STONE? Who was
his wife Mary before marriage? was she a 2nd wife? Was he from VA

Does anyone have information about the BRADDY families
in Warren Co. in the late 1700's and early 1800's? There were 6 BRADDY/BRADY men found in early records: Samuel, Patrick, Lewis,
Cullen L., James and Wiley G. Does anyone know if these men were
related to each other, and how? I know that Lewis and James were
Revolutionary War soldiers, and Patrick and Lewis received land
grants. One of my gr.gr. grandmothers was Ruth BRADDY who married
Jeremiah WILCHER, Jr. I've heard she was a daughter of Wiley G. BRADDY. Another gr.gr.grandmother was Sarah Jane

daughter of Linson and Polly Rhodes BRADDY, who married Hansel BECKWORTH. If anyone can give me any information about any of
these people, it will be appreciated. Melba M. Smith
