CURRY
CaSandra Knight Sat Mar 6 15:05:56 1999
I'm seeking any information that is known about the Curry family in Warrenton, Sparta, and Jewell Georgia. This is tricky because I happen to be African American. Just looking through the census I saw two family names meaning my family in Warrenton have the same last names. It is not difficult to believe remember slaves tooks their masters last name after they were freed. So in many small towns many people have the same name they just happen to be black and white. For example, I saw Heath and Warrenton. My great grandmother was a Heath and my grandmother was a Blount. I think you get the idea. Thanks, CaSandra Curry Knight

KELLY
Richard B. Davis Tue, 9 Mar 1999
I am looking or information concerning John Kelley who is believed to have come from Cork County, Ireland, to the U.S. He settled in South Carolina before moving to Warren County, Georgia, probably in 1775. This next item concerning this John Kelley is from a "Biographical Souvenir of the State of Georgia and Florida, (Chicago, F.A. Battery 1889, Page 470)":

"One of the oldest settlers of that part of Warren County, Georgia, subsequently cut off and erected into Glascock County, was John Kelley, a native of Ireland who located about one mile from where the town of Gibson now stands, in the year 1775. He grew to be a planter of fair means and raised a rather numerous family."

John (Red) Kelley is believed to be the son of this John Kelley and was born in Glascock County, Georgia, on March 29, 1805. He married Martha Ann Franklin. After having their first child, Daniel W. Kelley (1830), they moved in 1833 to neighboring Alabama. I would like to know more about these two "John's" and to know if John (Red) Kelley had any siblings, and if he did, who they were. Thanks!!

Seeking information on the children of John DARDEN and Elizabeth FOWLER (b. 16 Apr 1834, d. 24 Jan 1879) of Warren County. Am particulary interested in verifying that Clara Virginia DARDEN, my g-grandmother, was one of John's and Elizabeth's children. Clara was b. 05 Oct 1873, d. May 1946. I have a paper entitled "The Fowlers", prepared by a W.H. Fowler in 1954. It does not cite any sources, but it does contain a lot of information about the FOWLER line starting with Nathan (Rev. War times), his son Zephaniah, and Zephaniah's son William. Unfortunately, the names of John's and Elizabeth's children in the paper (Franklin, Edgar, George, Jim, Mattie, Emma, and Clara) differ from those I found in the transcription of the 1870 Warren County census on the web (Lillian, Rebecca, Margaret, Samuel). Obviously, Clara wouldn't be in the 1870 census, but the fact that none of the other names match is disturbing. Any information to help resolve this difference would be greatly appreciated. I would also be glad to share any of the information in the Fowler paper with anyone who is interested.

MCGEE, MAGEE, MCGLAMERY, WILSON, BURGAN, DUNN, HOOD, STANFORD
Thomas Daniel Knight Thu May 6 11:43:47 1999
I am researching several related Warren Co., GA, families, many of whom came from Maryland's Eastern Shore to Columbia and Warren Counties in the 1780s and 1790s. I am particularly interested in the descendants of Josiah Magee (m. 1 [---], m. (2) Judah Stanford); Reuben Magee, m. Elizabeth Stanford; Davis Magee,m. Penelope Shockley. Reuben, Davis and Josiah were brothers. They lived in Warren and Columbia Counties, and Davis lived later in Hancock and Jones Counties, where he died. My particular line is from Josiah Magee through his first marriage. In later generations, the surname was generally spelled McGee. Josiah and Judah also apparently had children, possibly including Mary Ann Magee. Following Josiah's death c. 1818, Judah remarried to John Spivey, by whom she had at least two children. Among the children of Josiah Magee by his first marriage were: John C. McGee (1789-1862), m. 1814, Columbia Co., GA, Nancy Hood; Levin McGee, m. Mary Dunn; [-----] McGee, m. Jam! ! es Dunn; and Polly McGee, m. Daniel Burgan. I am particularly interested in descendants of these Dunn and Burgan families. John C. McGee had nine children, among whom was James Turner McGee, husband of Elizabeth Wilson. Elizabeth Wilson's family was also from Columbia and Warren Counties; her parentage is unknown, but she may possibly be a daughter of niece of Henry Wilson who married Mary Stanford. Josiah, Davis and Reuben were sons of David Magee and Mary Maglamery of MD. The Maglamerys also came to Warren County with their Magee kin.

I am looking for Thomas Parham said to have been born in Warren County abt 1772. He had several children one of which was R.C. Parham. It is said he left around 1810 for Tennessee. I don't have proof that he was actually born in Warren County. He may have only been passing through but did live there for several years. I've also noticed several other Parham's in Warren County on several of the Censuses for the 1800's. Those are Matthew, Lewis, George, and John. Does anyone have any information on these Parhams? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

IVEY, ADAMS
Velma Shaw Beale Tue Nov 23 12:59:11 1999
I am looking for information on my ancestor, Benjamin Wike Ivey who lived for a while in Warren County with his wife, Sarah Adams. In spite of the fact that some information says that they left Warren County between 1835 and 1840, I see a lot of similarity in the family listed in the 1850 census, including the Benjamin Ivey (18) who worked for Andrew Chambers. His son Benjamin would have been 18 according to my records. Benjamin Wike was supposedly born in Southampton,VA., and his father's name may be Adam, his mother's Mary (Molly) Adams. Can anyone help?

JONES
J. Norvill Jones Tue Dec 14 13:04:02 1999
I am looking for information on Mary Jones who - I believe - died in Warren County in 1859. After the death of her husband, she moved in 1809 from Jackson County back to Warren County where she had lived until about 1800. She probably moved in with one of her children who had remained behind in Warren. I would like to know who she lived with in Warren County since the names of her children are mostly a mystery. She may have been accompanied in her move back to Warren by her daughter-in-law Polly Jones, the widow of Mary's son James Jones who died in Jackson Co. in 1804. Polly died in Warren Co. on April 5, 1858. Any information on the families of either of these Jones' will be appreciated.

DENNIS
John Dennis Tue Dec 14 18:43:36 1999
I would like to contact anyone who might have knowledge of Daniel Dennis or Johnson Dennis families who lived in Warren County during the early 1800's. I believe there may be a family connection between these families and my ancestor, Daniel Dennis who married Mary Slade in Hancock Co. in 1818. My Daniel moved to Monroe County in 1824 and raised his family. Could Johnson Dennis of Warren County be the father of Daniel Dennis who married in Hancock County?? John Dennis
