William J Jones Family

William J. Jones was born in Wilkinson County, Georgia in 1827. His parents have not been identified. William married Louisa Ryland in 1845 in Washington County, Georgia. They lived on Buffalo Creek near Oconee, Georgia. Louisa died in 1903 and is buried in Rutherfords Primitive Baptist Cemetery on Route 272 north of Oconee.

William J. Jones entered Confederate service as a private enlisting at Tennille, Georgia on March 12th 1862 joining Company A of the 28th Georgia Infantry Regiment, CSA (The Irwin Volunteers). His service records indicate he entered Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond, Virginia in June. Medical records state problems with Rheumatism and injury to the right thigh. A few months later he returned to Georgia on medical discharge.

William died on 1881 of an apparent heart attack and was buried in an unknown location in Wilkinson Co. Georgia.

Thomas Jackson Jones died at the dinner table of a heart attack on March 6, 1932. He lived with his son Edgar on a farm near Uvalda, Montgomery County, GA.
