Witness: F M Austin, Greenwell SC:

Has known Barney Coker for 40 years, Barney left about 32 years before.  Was in Company E, Hampton Legion, SC.  I was not present at surrender, I was sick.  Barney was at Danville, on order of his commanders, from what he told me.  I don't know about his property, or his condition, I have not seen him in some time. 4 April 1904.

Affidavit of physicians: B A Brown, MD; G H Hightower MD.  Barney Coker is now suffering from rheumatism and hemorrhoids, nephritis so much so that at times he is not able to get about.  28 May 1904.

Witness: John H Barnett, Carbondale, Whitfield County GA.  Has known Barney Coker 10 or 11 years.  He lives near me.  He owns no property.  He complains of rheumatism, piles and is not at all stout.  He is supported by his boys and what little he can do.  He has a wife, and two little grandchildren.  Two girls 14 and 16 who work in the field and don't earn much.  28 May 1094.

August 26, 1904: This is not an aged man, infirmity is not shown to be such in its effect that applicant can't with the aid of his minor children earn a support at some kind of labor or calling.  Must prove what he says and where he was by someone who knows.  The witness submitted seems to know nothing.  J W Lindsey, Com of Pensions.
