"Gordon County, GA.  Personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace, Abe Greeson, who on oath says he has known Hilliard G Helton, the applicant for Indigent pension all his life and they were in the same regiment, the First Georgia State Troops that Helton belonged to Company K and he belonged to --- and during the fight of Resaca GA that he was captured by the federal soldiers and Hilliard G Helton, the applicant, was captured at New Hope Church and they were both carried to Camp Alton, Indiana and there we remained together in prison till we made our escape.  I further say that the sad applicant is unable to work, has rheumatism and has been severely burned, both hands drawed from burns and has know property to live on."  Signed Abe (his X mark) Greeson.  Sworn and subscribed before me this November 25, 1904. J W Roberts JP

Personally came the above Abe Greeson who swears to above before me and states under oath that he and Hilliard Helton made their way home after escaping from prison some time in November 1864 and Helton had a spell of fever and was badly disabled from exposure while making his way home and was not able for duty any more.  Sworn and subscribed before me this December 2, 1904 and I certify Mr Greeson is a reliable man.  Jas Bogle, Ordinary, Whitfield County"
